Zac Efron has signed up to star in a new spy thriller, from the man behind Marvel Comics.

Universal are to make "Fire", based on the graphic novel by Michel Bendis. Bendis wrote Fire some time before he went on to write some of Marvel Comic's more well known stories, including Spiderman; he will be involved in the film adaptation. In a wise move for Efron, he will act as Executive Producer on the project. Speaking via Twitter, Bendis said "Yes, my daughter knows I know Zac Efron. It took some explaining. She thought there was a party going on that she wasn't invited to".

Zac will play a college student who is inducted into a special CIA project, set up to test whether training ordinary people to become agents. Work on the project will begin later this year, once Zac has wrapped up filming on his latest movie, The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud.

Today's announcement casts doubt over whether or not he will still appear in the forthcoming "Johnny Quest" movie.

I've read this book and the film is going to be awesome. Glad the writer is involved.

SounRAB good, if a bit familiar, but then again I've only read that short synopsis, there is probably more to it than that. I might have to check out the graphic novel.

I think Zac Efron is going to be the next George Clooney, he's making good decisions, getting more involved in the business side of things and is ridiculously charismatic on screen. I'm excited for all his upcoming projects.

Dunno about the next George Clooney but he's not a bad actor he's been pretty good in the films I've seen him in including Me And Orson Welles which was a decent movie

Ludwig beat me to it.

Anyway guys, other companies own the film rights to Marvel movies now anyway, example is Sony and Spider-Man, Fox and X-men. I've never heard of Fire anyway.
