I was informed that there are some problems with downloading the current versions due to exceeding bandwich limit, so i reuploaded them to another server

Ok, i run some test, found some tricks, have few questions, but i'm glad...

bitpim works on this phone, but only for system files, i can't access to other features, but it's enough to save the sms files. The sms are located in the folder called "User" at the root directory. You have to save the folder "Msg". after flashing just restore this "Msg" folder. Be careful, respect the tree directory. It seems that all the files in User directory can be used to have the same settings in the mod FW than the old FW.

Rather use Bitpin than tk file explorer because bitpim can see more files and so more settings (i first used tk, and some files didn't show).

Then i tried to export my phone memory contact in the mod FW, and then the phone always freeze. It happens with the "phonedb" stored in the "db2" folder at the root directory. It seems that i can save the message error in a dump file or something like that (phone displays 12 screens about the issue). If you know a procedure to get it i'll upload the dump for you. Phone also freeze when i trie to access to the phone in usb mode using phonedit forensic.

To bypass the freeze, i flash the phone again (when i upload the phonedb, not with the usb freeze). I did three times!!! then i found that i just have to take the battery off and take the sim off, then replace the battery, turn on the phone and when sim is asked put the phone in qualcomm usb driver, run bitpin and replace the mod db2 folder (prior to the manipulation, save the mod bd2 folder with bitpin).

Last thing; when i tried to set a password for the phone, old password is required may be your password... how can i do to delete it and set a new one?

yet the best one, because no other firmware has such capabilities as this one

True again e.g tk doesn't see NV directory whic contains some phone setup files.




yes, I'm aware of the freeze screens I left them because they're sometimes helpful - you can see what caused the problem

the trick for you might be option to change debug level from mid to low, then when ther's an error handset instead of message error will just reset itself

you can also try high mode but the only bonus for that is slower menus and phone responses

changing of debug level might be done in admin menu

the freezes may sometimes happen especialy when you tri to connect to the telephone but the adress is not allowed like trying to reach eeprom area etc..

all the passwords are samsung original it should be eiter 4x0 = " 0000 " or 8x0 = " 00000000 "

I just joined this site so I could thank you properly. I bought a 2GB SD card intended for my Z400, then I found out it would take a maximum of 1GB. So I gave it to my gf in exchange for her 1GB card from her Nokia 5200. Still wouldn't work, formatted the card many times and the phone was still unbearably slow to respond when the card was inside. I guessed it might be a firmware problem and searched for days for new firmware (I have previously flashed a Nokia 6630) but I could not find it until this post. So I ordered a cable which came today. I have just successfully flashed it using your AWESOME software and my phone is now flying with the card inside. Thank you very much dude, this is amazing! It's like having a new phone. Good luck for everything in the future and thank you again!
PS My girlfriend's Polish so I got her to change the language for me :-D

First I would like to thank you for this MOD, that enables me to watch movies fullscreen, install Java apps and browse the card - all things that I couldn't do with the previous firmware.

I want to confirm that the phone started in Polish after flashing, but as I'm French, I didn't have any problem to switch back to English :-).

I had a crash while starting Micro Counter Strike HD Version, here is the displayed message (on a light blue background):

hmmm.. it must have not changed nv files, wondering why.. but vodafone here is real pain in the a**.. glad you managed to switch though. [;



There is a problem either with the memory or anything else in order not to have this screen change debug level to low, then if a game/app causes the phone to crash it will just reset the phone (turn off and on again without the screen and necessity ro remove tha battery). It will aslo speed it up a bit.

Yet it would happen on pure buff5 as well so it's not because of the mod itself.



this nope, although tre is ONE fw that accepts 2gb cards, unfortunately this is the only advantage of it, this is Polish branded Play firmware PMGE1 (as far as I remember)to which I made a patch in order to have java on sd card. But as I said it is the only benefit, in all other aspects it's like non branded one, but with some branding visible.



not really unless you'd consider making a direct file backup via bitpim or tkfile explorer



didn't really tried, what I did.. was completely translated Lyric Show Player into Polish, this java app is a decent player yet having some minor drawbacks, you may want to try it, there should be Eng version online if not write. I'll try to upload the one I translated, There was English in that too.



dunno anything about any quake game :F

Just one question.
Have a SAMSUNG u700.
I am looking inside the phone via BITPIM do you know what is the file that assigns internet to the right soft key?
I want to simply reassign that button so it' s no more money spent.
Can you give me more hints please?
Sorry the stupid question... What does exactly the NV folder contain?
how could you read the files in bin format?

yes I can, but can't tell you offhand, wait a bit, hopefully I'll have some time this weekend for creating some tutorials on FW modifying for qualcomm platform (older)
so I'll translate them into English and post here

the trick [in general] is to do "live" swap of previously prepared files
