YuYu Hakusho The Movie: Poltergeist Report

Hey everyone, well recently funimation has been releasing yuyu hakusho into season sets, does anyone think that they will re-release YuYu Hakusho The Movie: Poltergeist Report anytime soon?

I agree. Yu Yu Hakusho isn't really even close to being of their most popular series, anyways (in comparison to their highest selling series, like DBZ, One Piece, and FMA). So, I doubt that they would see much profit in getting the rights to re-dub and re-distribute the movie, even though it would be really awesome if they did do that.

Still, compared to the TV series, the movie was pretty average in terms of story and writing, however it was still entertaining, and it would be nice to hear Justin Cook doing Yusuke's voice again, even if its just one more time.

IIRC, there's also a series of Yu Yu Hakusho OVAs they never dubbed. If they don't want to dub something they should have access to, why would they redub this?

It would be awesome, though. From what I saw in the Lanipator version, the animation looks amazing. Corabined with Funimation's amazing voice actors (which Lani's version gave me an idea of how it'd be), it'd be great.

Actually, we're probably going to be getting those soon. Check out this recent video of Chuck Huber.

At about 7:00 he starts talking about a YYH "musical." The OVAs feature image songs for the main four characters. He couldn't be referring to anything else. I think we'll get the movies eventually; maybe sooner than you think.

Well, of course. Its a movie, so it had a higher budget when being made.

Wait, when did this con take place? As in, which month of 2008 did it take place in?

I just find it kind of odd that he said that they would be doing something new for YYH, yet FUNimation hasn't announced any plans about licensing or distributing the movie, or any of the OVAs, yet.

October.

And they probably haven't announced it yet because it's a tiny part of a series that they already own. I'm sure FUNi's trying to get people excited about new shows rather than new things from shows they have.

Heck, for shows that FUNi's already revealed the license for, we only really get an official announcement with the DVD solicitation.

I suppose, but I still think its odd that we haven't heard anything about it at all, besides Chuck Huber mentioning it at that con. I mean, you'd at least think that FUNi would have put something up about that on their official YYH website.

On the original topic, Manga Entertainment owns the rights to Poltergeist Report. Media Blasters did the first "movie" (if you can even call it that).

As for the video, that's really interesting. I would love to see FUNi dub the Eizou Hakusho OVAs, but I'm like ensatsu-ken... I'm really surprised not to have heard anything from FUNi on this. Considering the nuraber of re-releases they've done for the series, they have to know how popular it is. But if we're going to see them, I'll be ecstatic.

Theres three versions of the movie on DVD that I keep finding

1st version is from Us Manga Corps Video, released in 1994
2nd version is from Us Manga Corps Video, released in 2002
3rd version is from Anime Works, also released in 2002.

I don't really know for sure, But does that mean that 3 companys dubbed the YYH movie? US manga corps, anime works and funimation?

I'm so confuzzled. >_>

Woops, my bad. Checking ANN, CPM licensed it but Manga distributed it. Bah, it's all confusing. Point being, it's not FUNi The first two are both Poltergeist Report. I'm not sure, but I don't think there is any difference in them other than the cover art on the DVD. The third is the first "movie," The Golden Seal, but it's only half an hour so packaged as a double feature with Ninku. FUNimation hasn't done anything with the YYH movie(s).
