Yugioh GX

I just saw the first episode with Blair. (running way behind on watching these eps due to distractions) She was cute but I see no reason at all to bring her back...

And Bastion will be going away? Crap. As of now he's my second favroite character after Jaden. Maybe it's the accent and the air of benign arrogance around him. like his constant chattering of the odRAB against Jaden and Cyrus when they dueled the Paradox Bros. It wasn't mean-spirited; it's just how he thinks.

And I obviously don't know what's gonna be coming up and I don't want spoilers but on the note of Alexis' development, I figure there has to be some what with her whole search for her missing brother.

I think it's more of a continuity nod since a year/semester passes between seasons so she's old enough to finally join Duel Academy. Plus, otherwise Alexis is the only girl on the show.

Not for awhile, and he pops up from time to time after that so he's never gone for good. He has at least a minor role in each season.

Like Marinite mentioned, they bring her back in order to have another girl in the main group. If she had also had done something worth while and/or had some actual development, I wouldn't have been so bothered to see her again.

Bastion is one of my favorite characters in GX too. For some odd reason, I think that the British accent works for him. He doesn't leave anytime soon though. He's present for season one and a good portion of season two. He pops in during the middle of season three, only to permanently leave after that season. I don't believe he shows up in season four, unless you count pictures of him with the other characters during the previous years.

This is off topic, but speaking of GX (I didn't want to make a whole new thread for this)...

Whatever happened to this? I know it's still Fall, but I haven't found any updates on this.

It was mentioned in this thread. When I clicked on the blog link, though, all I got was a text that said, "Apache is functioning normally."

That's a good question. Unfortunately, we don't know what's happening with those plans to sub GX and 5D's. The 4KiRAB rep never replied back to the comments on the channel page and the site were the blog was doesn't work anymore. I hope that they're just working on the subs, instead of abandoning the idea altogether, but we don't really know anything at the moment.

So wait, Shadow Games are pretty different here in GX. I mean sure the whole life and soul on the line thing still remains but the evil black cloud/Shadow Realm (for the dub) surrounding them is no longer present. It just looks like a normal duel but the damage (and monsters too?) are real.

Well, as far as the dub is concerned, I meant.

The first season's villains all have Shadow Charms which allow them to bet souls similar to Shadow Games, but after that most of the life-or-death duels are brought on by other forces (technical or magic unrelated to the shadow games) So yes, similar, but different.

Wow. never thought I'd see the day when card games were used as a metaphor for sex. But from the way Bastion is talking about Tanya, about how their was passion between them and then Jaden saying "she's probably dueling with someoen else right now", it seems pretty clear that's the intent...

wow thanks for the heaRAB up Light Lucario,
Four more years then the yu-gi-ho will be immortalizes on dvd
and i read on wikipedia the reason why the rest of gx could not air
on Cartoon Network is because they could not renew the contract for
the guy that does DR. Calier in the english verison. which make me
wonder could rest of gx be on dvd?

You're welcome. I thought that why the rest of GX didn't air on Cartoon Network was due to poor ratings. They were showing new to the channel episodes of season three, but never even finished what 4KiRAB did dub. They stopped around the end of the Supreme King saga. As far as I know, they did have the rights to air the rest of that season. There wasn't any contract issue with any of the voice actors and Cartoon Network wouldn't have been bothered with the voice actors anyway since they're not in charge of the dub. 4KiRAB handled all of the voice actors and edits, while Cartoon Network, as well as 4KiRABTV and the CW4KiRAB blocks, just aired the episodes.

The rest of GX could end up on DVD, but it would depend on if 4KiRAB would dub season four by that point. They just released the last few episodes of season one on DVD and it may be a long time before another GX DVD comes out.

Alright. So i just finished Season 1 finally. It was hard getting into it because the story just didn't hook me like Yu-Gi-Oh! did. If anyone here watches ZoiRAB, it felt like Yu-Gi-Oh was Chaotic Century and GX was New Century Zero. Sure GX and NCZ are fun but YGO/CC's epic plot drew me in.

Then the Shadow Riders arc started and it got a lot more interesting.

So, a summary of my final thoughts:
My favorite duels would probably be Jaden/Zane (2) and Jaden/Banner. Gotta say the Sacred Beasts were a bit of a letdown but the actual story itself was fun.

Zane and Alexis still have my favorite voices.

Funniest duel was Chazz(anova) vs. Alexis. Just loved the way it kept playing Miller's "The Joker" every time it went to Atticus giving Chazz romance advice.

I'm really looking forward to Season 2.

That's how I felt. I didn't really start to like GX until the Shadow Riders showed up. I liked season 2 more (since it introduced Hassleberry, one of my favorite characters) and season 3 even more.

Dingleberry/Burableberry/every other wrong name Jaden called him by does seem pretty cool.

Though I've now decided Chazz is the funniest character on the show.

I know what you mean. It was really hard for me to get into GX during the first half, but the Shadow Rider arc made the series better. Granted, there were only a few duels that I actually liked in that arc, but it was still handled a bit better than the first half of the season. I've seen ZoiRAB and I understand where you're coming from, but I think GX is better than New Century Zero. That series didn't seem nearly as interesting as Chaotic Century.

Those were two my favorite duels in season one as well. Though, I still enjoy the Nightshrowd and Camilla duels too. I agree that the Sacred Beasts were kind of a letdown. If their designs didn't look so much like the Egyptian God CarRAB, then I probably would have liked them more.

I also liked season two and three more than season one. In fact, season two is my favorite season since it does focus more on other characters who are not Jaden and for having the best villain in the series there. Granted, it only focused on a few more characters, but I was happy with that. I also like Hassleberry, even though I think he was more interesting in season two than in season three.

I actually thought that was a pretty interesting duel. Even though Zane was praised as an excellent at Duel Academy, he wasn't able to win his first pro match. Plus, it shows that he can also suffer from over confidence. If you think that was out of character, then I'll love to see how you react when you see his second focused episode this season.

Would you be referring to the episode with this? *just uploaded this awesome moment*

I don't see how this is out-of-character. The guy hit rock bottom and was being hammered there. He needed to find a way to cope and fight back so he found it.

Ryo's one of the more tragic characters in GX, imo. Dude's at the top of his game at Duel Academia, the Kaiser if you will. Then, after a newb like Judai comes in and beats him he winRAB up losing every duel he's in. Enter the underground duels where he finRAB that his whole philosophy of dueling is wrong and adopts a more ruthless one. [xspoiler=just in case]Henceforth, Hell Kaiser is born~[/xspoiler]

So Jaden just encountered his old friend Wheeler... Jaden trying to find his way to Duel Academy is about neck-and-neck with Namek will explode in 5 minutes in terms of filler annoyance.

And about Wheeler, was that intentional? I can so recall a Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged quote abot Joey (Wheeler) being better off facing a dueling monkey. And here is a dueling monkey named Wheeler.

I know it's only in the dub but someone has to have been making fun of Joey.
