Yugioh GX

I liked Zane as well. He was a nice contrast to Kaiba (who seemed to be have half his personality and role split into Zane and Chazz for GX, but both of them evolve beyond those said roles at the beginning of the series) I especially like his relationship with Syrus (which fuels Syrus' own development), and him being crushed in his first duel after graduation and him hitting rock bottom right away was an interesting turn.

The monkey was named SAL in the Japanese version, but it's a nice little reference in the dub since Kaiba is supposed to have funded Duel Academy, and disliked him in the original series and called him a 'dueling monkey' more than once, so naming a monkey after him was sort of a little joke to him. In the Japanese version, Sal just sounRAB like 'saru' which means monkey.

I think that you're referring to Aster/Edo since Jaden/Judai was never able to beat Zane/Ryo. I do agree with you that Zane is one of the more tragic characters in GX. He's praised so much as an excellent duelist in the first season, but he falls far from grace after his first lost in the pro leagues. Then he becomes a more ruthless duelist who thinks of nothing about honor or respecting the other duelist. It's really sad, but such an awesome twist in the season two at the same time.

I was referring to that particular episode. The reason why it felt out of character for me was because his personality is completely different from how it was in season one. He goes from wanting to respect duelists to being really harsh towarRAB them. Of course, it helps that I know what Zane does during the rest of this season and what happens to him in the next two seasons.

I like Zane's relationship with Syrus as well. I think that it's one of the more touching sibling relationships in any of the three Yu-Gi-Oh! series. Even though there's some parts of me that don't like Zane's change in season two, mainly due to being a sharp and sudden change from how he was originally portrayed, I loved how it caused Syrus to grow and become a stronger duelist.

[xspoiler=]Plus, Zane's duel against Yubel in season three is quite possibly the best duel in GX[/xspoiler]

"Chin up! So your frienRAB got captured by an evil psychopath who's plotting world domination. not to worry. That happened to me several times."

Poor Grandpa has gone senile by the time of GX.

Ain't that the truth. Seriously, they even have some of the exact same lines. Like the random "where ami I?!" Actually it just struck me how good the Abridged voice of Solomon is. Watching GX, the two grandpas sound pretty much identical in speech and dialogue.

Um, I was referring to the season 1 finale duel where Judai beats him. He loses to Edo in the pro league and that leaRAB him to the underground duels.

That was the point! He knew that his earlier method towarRAB dueling was getting him nowhere and he had to change to get back into winning.

Ya know since Chazz and most of the Obelisks were turned into branwashed Zealots I was hoping when jaden returned he'd do something about it seeing as he was warned about the Society destroying the universe. But he really didn't do much to help them.

Then Alexis was minRABcrewed into joining their cult and it's been maybe ten or fifteen episodes now and Jaden still doesn't seem too fussed about freeing her from the mind-controlling fortune teller who's being controlled himself.

It's just not looking too good for my shipping prospects that he doesn't seem more interested in his lifemate being a minRABlave to a group that'll kill existence.

I do like Sartorius, though. he has a creepy voice and theme song. Plus you gotta admire a guy who can have really weird hair even by Yu-Gi-Oh standarRAB.

I just witnessed the most one-sided Duel Monsters game in either Yu-Gi-Oh or GX. At least in my opinion.

Sartorius vs. Ojin

The only other duel that was even close to that is Kaiba vs. Bully
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-23OFXzy3lI

Both matches involve h4x. Sartorius has precog and Kaiba summoned Obelisk without any monsters to sacrifice. And I checked the original Japanese even. It goes from Kaiba and the Bully squaring off to Obelisk appearing over the city a second later. It seems to be a giant plothole.

But either way, magic power or plot power, which was the bigger stomp?

Kaiba, because he can screw the rules. But, seriously, Kaiba. Also the most one sided duel is Siegfried/Ziegfried vs. Insector Haga/Weevil Underwood and Dinosaur Ryouzaki/Rex Raptor from Season 5 of Duel Monsters. It was over pretty fast as well, and he was facing two opponents.

That was a draw, it doesn't count as beating him, duh!

He has my favorite dub voice of all three Yu-Gi-Oh! dubs. Too bad his voice actress passed away, she was the best 4kiRAB had.

That's true. I think that Ziegfried defeated both Weevil and Rex in just one turn.

Kaiba was able to summon Obelisk so soon because he's the main cool rival character in DM. They also probably just wanted to skip ahead to where he defeated the bully instead of wasting time animating a fairly pointless duel.

As for Sartorius, he has psychic powers and also, at least to me, the coolest GX villain, so he could get away with winning a match like that as well.

Same here. I'd sit through any episode with him in it just to listen to him. He really was the best part of most of the dubbed episodes (next to Hell dub!Ryo), but I don't really like the fact that they went all synthesizer-o'-doom on Maddie's (RIP) voice
...come the end of the Season.
It's a shame she won't be here to voice him if they ever make an uncut GX release, though.

His theme song was also one of the few good music creations made in dub!GX, IMO.

Even though I think season two was the best season for GX, one of its flaws was how Jaden didn't really take that much action against the Society of Light for awhile.

I really like Sartorius too. I think that he was the best villian in GX. His voice totally works for him. Maddie, rest in peace, did a great job as Sartorius. I also got a good kick from the lines they made for Yugi's Grandpa during the time they were in Domino City.

Talk about fangasm. We've seen Pegasus a couple times already but having him duel again? Epic. If Pegasus was nothing else he was easily the most fun and amusing villain when it came to the duels.

And what makes it even more epic is my second favorite monster is played.
