D) Wait a minute, a Blu-Ray release in Japan!? Like, directly from film masters, or just a transfer of the videos or what have you? Interesting either way.

Yeah, FUNi should definitely license this as soon as possible. Chuck Huber did say they had recorded the musical thing.

While I'm happy to see YYH FINALLY getting a Blu-Ray release, as for the "new picture drama," I just have to ask: Would it really be too much to ask for some short new material that's actually animated? I guess that honor is only reserved for the most popular shows that aired, like Dragonball, but I really would have been completely satisfied to see the cast reunite to some actual new footage to voice act over.
Even so, YYH getting remastered in Blu-Ray alone is plenty of great news for me. I really hope that FUNimation does release the series on Blu-Ray over here in America, as well.

Unfortunately, a picture drama probably wouldn't do much to once again stir up the show's popularity to what it once was. There'd need to actually be some sort of new animation in the first place, in order for enough people to be interested in seeing even more animated YYH material. Its just too bad that it will probably never happen, since its kind of stuck in a bind, in that it neeRAB a bit more popularity to convince the producers to make new animated material, but it would need new animated material to gain that bit of popularity which it still neeRAB, in order for it to be considered profitable to even create new animated material for it at all.
Damn the producers of this release and their non-animated "picture" drama. That already sounRAB pretty boring to me, and its only just a DVD extra, anyways.

The only thing I can say to this is "nice." It's nice that they are adding a picture drama with the original cast for the Blue-Ray release of the series, but it is just an extra for home video release. While I would like more adventures with Yusuke and the others, YYH will not come back in the form of new animation. Plus, it would not be Yu Yu Hakusho would not be the same without involving Togashi in the creative process, and that would not be likely as Hunter x Hunter is still in lirabo.

Well, to be honest, I'm actually one of the few people who was satisfied with the actual ending of the series in terms of where it left off (even though the final arc, itself, was rushed). So, I really don't feel that there neeRAB to be any new animated adventure, since the show already had an ending with a perfect sense of closure to it.
I also agree that if there were going to be any new animated adventures, then the story should be written by Togashi himself (which is impossible since he still neeRAB to finish HXH before he can work on anything else).
However, if there was going to be any new material, I'd still like it if it was at least animated. Its not like I want a completely new animated story. I'd just appreciate a special short or episode that pays some sort of tribute to the series. Something along the lines of the Dragonball special from 2008. Something short and humorous would be nice.
One idea which actually might make the picture drama seem kind of cool, though, is if they have it drawn out in manga style with voice acting over it, and the pictures are revealed and panels out of a manga, similar to how the story for Max Payne was told with comic book panes that were accompanied by voice acting. That's just my thoughts on how they should handle this, anyways.

Too bad I just bought all the seasons on dvd, as I cant really warrant the purchase of the blu ray, especially with no no animations. I do want to see the new talkie picture though...
