Youth in Revolt

Michael Cera in another drab comedy? No thanks. His last few films just put me right off him. He seems to be already typecast as the geeky outsider type character and they have just put me right off him.

Superbad was an apt name, because it was indeed super-bad.
Juno - Passable, I did like some stuff about the film, but not him.
Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist - Kill me, kill me now
Year One - I almost cried... of boredom.

I doubt this attempt will be any better.

I'll be watching it, although your right to say the trailers make it out to be rubbish. Not a fan of his at all really, but I really liked Nick and Nora.

Please don't waste money going to watch this! Find it online and save yourself a few quid! Yes it really is that bad.

2/10 for me. Early contender for worse film of the year for me, can't see it being toppled either!

Now I've seen it... it's not a drab comedy, it's a silly, offbeat tongue-in-cheek take on the boy desperate to lose his virginity plot that avoiRAB the usual clich

Oh dear God I actually used up some of my download limit to get this film as someone said to me "Oh that looks quite funny/interesting..." :(

Big, big, huge, colossal, gigantic, mammoth, gargantuan mistake. Michael Cera is possibly the worst "comic" actor I've seen - I thought he was passable in Arrested Development, Year One (which I hated for other reasons *cough JACK BLACK*) and Juno...

But honestly this is SUCH a bad film...a few minor yuk-yuks...but thats IT..!

AVOID like Kurt Cobain avoided having to sleep with Courtney Love...! OK, well dont shotgun your brains out...but avoid this film all the same...

As i was waiting to go in and see the this, the previous screening audience came out and i overheard one very, what it now appears to be' dumb fellow say 'it wasn't as good as the hangover'. After watching i wished i could go back 2 hours and give the boy a slap to let him realise the films were nothing alike to even compare.

It was alright, could have been better, could have been worse was just alright.

Although they're not at all similar they both belong to a genre that's hard to define where the main character(s) go off on an adventure that gets out-of-hand and things just get a bit crazy. A bit like Something Wild or After Hours where the guy gets swept up in a bizarre chain of events - except of course that Something Wild and After Hours are much better films. I suppose what they have in common is they are all black comedies, although The Hangover isn't as dark as it could have been.

But I can imagine if either of those films was released today there would be people posting that they were the worst film ever and a complete waste of money.

I think the people who are going on about it like it's one of the worst films in a long time are being slightly melodramatic... and you're in the minority I believe.

i loved it i actually think it's Cera's best role yet, he's a great actor but was outstaged by Ellen Page, Kat Dennings and the guy who played Mclovin in Superbad in his previous films all of which I own but this film it's all about him and was very very funny. Also loved Portia Doubleday how we see more of her

It was okay, i wasn't particularly blown away by it or anything, but it was watchable. I'd say about a 7/10 if i were to rate it.

The "car accident" scene near the end was hilarious though!

i guess it depenRAB what you expect from it. If you expect the Superbad style of comedy, then you could be disappointed with this.

Just wondering if Michael Cera will still be playing the same character in his forties though? hmmm...

Review here.
