Hey, I thought it would be fun to see what everybody's top 5 supertoons were!:anime:

Heres mine!

5 Wolverine & the X-men: It may be too early to judge this series but what ive seen of it, I love!

4 Batman Beyond: One of the most origional DCAU Toons ever made! IMO that is.

3 Batman:TAS one of the 1st hero toons i watched & one of the best!

2 Teen Titans: My Favriote DC toon. Loved how it mixed US & Anime Style, & how they adapted some of the most famous stories from the 80's titans comics such as Judas Contract & Terror of trigon. My only beef with this is that it ended to soon, this was a fun series, i wish they would make more. (OH & it made me a big fan of BB & Raven, the individula characters, that is, although im not opposed to shippingthem either.)

1.X-men:TAS: Possibly one of the best cartoons of the 90's in genreral, I liked how it had a story that all ages could find entertaining and taught us the occasinal moral lesson (from beast or Nightcrawler) while giving us awsome action with Wolverine! & of course romance with cyclops & Jean.

I don't know if it could count as super-heroes series since it's more a spoof then an serious series
-The Mighty Heroes: a Terrytoon done under the supervision of Ralph Bakshi who star Strong Man, Diaper Man, Rope Man, Tornado Man, Cuckoo Man into various and hilarious missions. They even do a cameo appearance in the 1987 Mighty Mouse cartoon. http://saturdaymorn.blogspot.com/2008/04/mighty-heroes-1966.html

-the Incredible Hulk 1982 cartoon: An very good animation for its era, the scene when Banner saved Rick Jones from the Gamma bomb explosion was a masterpiece. Too bad then NBC didn't renewed the show for a 2nd season and focused on the Smurfs instead.

-Spider-man 1967-70: The plotlines are a bit weird (specially the ones of season 2 and 3) but you still enjoy to hum the theme song after all these years.

-1990s X-Men: Soundmonkey44 summarize it right on target about the X-Men. If only Iceman did a little cameo for the last episode of the series like Morph did to said farewell to Professor X although Iceman appeared in the episode "Cold Comfort" as well as the X-Factor. I wonder if the cameo of the X-Factor could had been a test to see if the X-Factor could have their own series?

-1994 Spider-man: Not as spectacular as the X-Men was but it was still very good and there was a crossover episode with the X-Men. If only they allowed one more season so Parker would had been reunited with Mary-Jane Watson.

Well, here's my opinion:

5. Danny Phantom: My favorite show for a long time, and a great effort by Butch Hartman. Sadly, its lackluster third season prevented it from getting any higher.

4. Batman: TAS: Can't really say anything that hasn't already been said about this series. It's great.

3. Teen Titans: Some superb art and great villains.

2. The Spectacular Spider-Man: I'm seeing this for the first time on DVD (I can't get up early on Saturday and I don't have Disney XD). It's not hard to see why this show is so popular.

1. Justice League/Justice League Unlimited: My favorite of the DCAU and overall superhero show.

Honorable mention to The Batman, which is awesome in its own right. From what I've seen the 90's X-Men and Spider-Man series: they were great, but I haven't seen enough of them to put them on the list.

In absolutely no order...

The Spectacular Spider-Man: In my opinion, it's the best Spider-Man adaptation/reimagination ever. It has great animation, a continuity, a well-done script, fights that keep getting more intense and what's best, it's consistent. I sure hope it keeps going for another season....

Batman - The Animated Series: It's been said too many times why it's a great show. So...yeah. Good stuff.

Static Shock: Well, I had no prior exposure to Static, and the style drew me in. It was different, and it was also pretty entertaining.

X-Men 90s: See Batman.

Justice League

...too tired to write more...zzzzzzz....

My favorites.
5. Batman:brave and the bold. I like it's story's and it's style.
4. Batman:TAS- Best.Batman.Series.Ever
3 Teen Titans- It was serious and funny at the same time.
2 Powerpuff girls- Just a really good cartoon.
1.Justice League/Justice League Unlimited- A show with a great storyline, and epic fights!

Batman TAS: really broke the mold and establised its own look and style. While the marvel cartoons at the time successfully adapted stories from the comics, BTAS stands out because it was in many ways distinct from the comics, making its own spin on classic characters.

Teen Titans: really encapsulates adolesence, with wacky, goofball fun episodes co-existing with more serious, angsty dramatic story arcs.

The Spectacular Spider-Man:
a cartoon that excels on every level, with a strong continuity that keeps you hooked. This show made Sandman and Rhino my favourite characters, something I thought would never happen.

The Maxx: he ain't much of a superhero, that's for sure, but Sam Kieth's comic fable translated to animation brilliantly, with lots of different types of animation shifting seamlessly into one another. Great pity it never continued, as the series had many more powerful moments that would have looked great onscreen.

Spawn: other comic series compliment their source material effectively, but HBO's Spawn has the distinction of rising above its source material and becomes a compelling series. A little self-indulgent at times, sure, but the dark tone is pulled off perfectly (personally I much prefer the art style to that of the comic) with great performances all round.

My number one choice is a no brainer but everything else I find hard to place. I would probably put BTAS on the list since I really enjoyed it but I haven?t seen it in such a long time so I?m not sure how it would hold up for me.

1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Fast Forward/Back to the Sewers
I absolutely LOVE this show. Admittedly, it?s a ?jack of all trades, master of none? type of superhero cartoon but yet it has some unexplainable charm that makes me put it on such a high pedestal. More than any other cartoon I love the characters, the action, the story, the presentation, the designs, the gadgets, the presentation and I cant really describe why. The quality dips in the last three seasons but its still good fun. I seriously feel it?s a one of kind cartoon that deserving of more praise. My favorite seasons were one and four.

2. Teen Titans
It has a perfect blend of action, comedy, story, and presentation but the major reason I put it in second place is because never before have I consistently laughed so much while watching a superhero cartoon. I am also extremely impressed with the attention of detail in both the comedic and action portions of the show and the soundtrack is my absolute favorite of the hero genre. I agree it defiantly should have been given another season or a more appropriate send-off DTV but I?m pleased with the majority of what we got. Favorite seasons were two and three.

3. Justice League/Unlimited
Almost everything about just felt completely epic. It was a fanboys dream come true and it had what I feel is some of the best storytelling in all of animation. Great continuity and an awesome cast of characters. Season two especially blew me away like no other season of a superhero cartoon. Favorite seasons were two and four.

4. The Batman
Overall I can honestly say I enjoy it more than BTAS. BTAS had a better soundtrack and storytelling (although The Batman written at its best could give it a run for its money) but in every other category I feel it trumps it by varying margins. Animation, designs, characters, action, presentation, and comedy all goes to The Batman. I cant deny though that the quality is perhaps one of the most inconsistent of superhero genre but I had a blast watching it. Favorite seasons were four and one.

5. The Spectacular Spider-man
The character designs, story and music, while good, aren?t among my favorites but pretty much everything else is top notch. The animation is especially stunning as you can see when watching the elaborate and well thought out fight scenes. The action has an unrivaled sense of speed and scope that still manages to have my jaw dropping at how good it is. It also has some great surprises and comedy.

I would put my five down as such (no particular order):

  • BTAS for being the catalyst of modern action animation.
  • JLU for doing a group superhero series right for the first time.
  • Spectacular Spiderman for being the best (IMHO) adaptation of Spiderman by any media.
  • Superman TAS for making Superman an interesting and layered character.
  • TMNT 2003 for showing how to reboot a classic series, not to mention the animation. It looked so good and detailed (At least the first four seasons, after that it kind of falters:sad:).

1. 1967-70 Spiderman

good show that. good theme and music, nice artwork, excellent plots and characters, good script

2. Wolverine and the X Men

allright cartoon... haven't seen the 90s version... good animation style... good plot

3. Ben 10

good cartoon that

4. Atomic Betty

good show... good characters etc

5. Kim Possible

I like that show

(the reason some of those choices were not 'super' heroes is i haven't really seen that many super hero cartoons, and besides Atomic Betty and the other choices do technically save the planet at times from villains as great or greater than those in the Marvel/DC type superhero cartoons, so i'd classify them as superheroes at least by occupation if not by pop culture stereotype.

Here are my 5 picks for my favorite animated super hero shows, in no certain order.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003 Series) - Since the 80's series was mostly humorous (although it did become more serious in seasons 8-10), it was great to see a more serious spin on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
It had great characters, cool stories, and nice action scenes. I even enjoyed the Fast Forward and Back to the Sewer seasons. It would be great if seasons 3, 4, and Back to the Sewer were released in season sets.

Teen Titans - This is an interesting super hero series that can be both serious or just plain wacky, and it does both quite well. I also liked the cross of American and anime art styles this show had.

Super Man: The Animated Series - An excellent animated series based on Super Man that had great characters, stories, and action scenes. In my opinion, this is the best incarnation of Super Man, who also appears in Justice League/Unlimited.

Justice League/Unlimited - Great stories featuring tons of characters from the DC universe. This show is like the Super Friends, but without any of the cheesiness. :D

X-Men (90's Series)/Wolverine and the X-Men - I decided to make both series a tie in fifth place. I've only seen the first volume of the 90's series, and the first two volumes of Wolverine and the X-Men, but so far, I find both series to be great. While Steve Blum does an excellent job as the voice of Wolverine, I think that whoever voiced Wolverine in the 90's series
was the perfect voice for the character.

Here's my top 5 animated superhero programs as follows:

1. The Superfriends- Clearly and unquestionably the best of the whole lot, especially since the stars of the show are DC Comics' most popular heroes. 13 total years on the air with every aspect of animated adventure that there is, namely science fiction, fantasy, rescue operations, catching bad guys, mystery, car chases, etc.

2. Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle- In my opinion, the best TV adaptation of the legendary jungle warrior, very faithful to Edgar Rice Burroughs' novels. Like The Superfriends, Tarzan also gave meaning to mainstream animated adventure in the 1970's.

3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles- I'm talking about the original version, which included funny cliches, bumbling villains but also some mainstream late 80's animated action of good vs. evil.

4. G.I. Joe- Dedicated military personnel in action to protect human freedom and battle for liberty and justice for all civilians against the sinister, diabolical terrorist group, Cobra. It never gets old, watching the Joes win for all.

5. Spider-Man- Spinning webs all over New York City, capturing bad guys and helping the innocent, only if he doesn't worry too much about his life away from being a superhero.

That's all for now, but if this were a top 10 thread about animated superhero programs, I would add more with a description.

BTAS: This cartoon defined my childhood... I loved the stories and it's one of the superhero cartoons from my childhood that I can watch today being as timeless as it was. Plus I can watch it and know that it is actually as good as I remember as a kid rather than thinking it was good because of nostalgia.

Spectacular Spider-Man: This series has me on the edge of my seat. I have to give props to the writers, as the characters are very memorable. This has got to be the first Spider-Man cartoon where I actually care about characters besides Spider-Man and his villains. Peter's life is actually as relevent as his time as Spider-Man and throughout the series we'll get to see him grow up and into a man...if it continues...*cries*

X-Men (90's) : This cartoon was another intregral part of my childhood, although not as defining as BTAS. However, Wolverine and the X-Men is starting to catch up to it in terms of story telling.

There are honorable mentions to Batman Beyond, Superman TAS, and Justice League/Unlimited, but they had to hold the coat tails of Batman to get started...
