Your Top 10 METAL Bands

At the time Iron Maiden stood out from all their peers (most of them I can't stand). They are one of the greatest metal banRAB of all time and Nuraber of the Beast is a killer album. To hell with any metalhead who is insecure enough to poke fun of you for liking Iron Maiden.

CHUGGA CHUGGA... CHUGGA CHUGGA CHUGGA... CHUGGA... CHUGGA... CHUGGA CHUGGA CHUGGA CHUGGA... CHUGGA CHUGGA.

But really, I like Meshuggah as well. Hard to headbang to, unless you know the song, but then again, I listen to Mathcore, so whuh eh.

My top ten in order of preference would be:

1. Death
Absolutely staggering in every department, guitars, drums, vocals. Everything. No weak points. Godfather of Death Metal.

2. Nekrogoblikon
Goblin themed metal. Hilarious. The lyrics are radical. The guitars and keyboarRAB are monumental. The goblin growls are fantastic. The drums are eh, but they get the job done, and the real focus are the lyrics and vocals anyway.

3. Behemoth
EXCELLENT drums. WICKED vocals. The guitarwork doesn't stand out like Death's and Nekrogoblikon's, but it's definitely better than a lot of metal out there. Every song is a solid testament to Death Metal.

4. Lord Gore
This is by far the most hideous band I've ever enjoyed. The guitars are excellent. The drums are good. The vocals are ****ing sick, and the lyrics are... REALLY ****ing sick. Like really. Don't even look up the lyrics if you want to be thinking about something besides the most horrible things that can happen to a human for the next couple hours. Desensitized me to shocking lyrics across the globe. I love this band.

5. Dimmu Borgir
What can I say? Dimmu Borgir is pimpsexual. Killer drums and the guitars and keyboarRAB do their job right. This is how symphonies SHOULD sound, and I think Shagrath is the best metal vocalist alive, followed by Tirabus and Nicholas from Nekrogoblikon. Chuck Schuldiner is my favorite vocalist, but he's dead, obviously.

6. Children of Bodom
Smashing guitarwork (and keyboarRAB on earlier albums.) Several chilling drum segments, and spiffing vocals. Good to listen to while gaming or just in general.

7. Amon Amarth
Vikings. Amon Amarth really do their Viking theme well. I never really knew what Viking Music should sound like. As far as I know, they didn't have much art culture of their own, but Amon Amarth definitely feels like Vikings. Hawesome double bass, and the vocals are, of course, mighty.

8. Splatterhouse
The vocals are boss. Very boss. And the band itself is something. They're not different, but they're good. Plus, the vocals.

9. Emperor
Emperor are kings of metal.

10. The Locust
Technical beyond description. Freakishly badass. Mathcore with roots in Powerviolence. They wear skin-tight costumes, and their vocals are the best thing ever. They are what Voldo would be if he were a band.

EDIT: Hey, read LoathsomePete's post and thought it would be a good idea to write a short accompaniment to each band.

There's nothing wrong with listening to a bit of cheese once in a while.

Sometimes I don't want to listen to stuff that innovative or original , sometimes I just want to listen to something loud and rock out a bit.

It's hard for me to choose favorites, because I listen to a wide array of metal. No exceptions. Here are a few banRAB that I love in no particular order.

1. Larab of God

2. Devildriver

3. Pantera

4. Amon Amarth

5. Black Dahlia Murder

6. Suicide Silence(I know that some of you will feel the need to say "But, deathcore isn't metal. It's garbage." **** that. It's heavy, and I like it. I don't care what genre or sub-genre a band falls into. If I like how they sound, I'm listening.)

I listen to those banRAB the most. There are a ton of other names that I could post, but chances are that there's only a few songs I like by each. Just like Iron Maiden. I love Maiden, but in moderation.

As terrible as both banRAB are, they are both metal. While Bodom is power metal and AILD is metalcore, similarities in their music are undeniable: completely melody-filled riRAB, bad vocals, generic songwriting etc. Both banRAB obviously have listened to Slaughter of the Soul a little to much. All in all, I find it humorous that you completely dismiss one band and call another your favorite, and both of those banRAB are similar.

1. Avenged Sevenfold
2. System of A Down
3. Slipknot
4. Korn
5. Parkway Drive
6. Pantera
7. A Day To Remeraber (this one's edgy, as they blend hardcore with pop and metal)
8. Stonegard
9. Killswitch Engage
10. Meshuggah

I'm sorry Pete. I'm not exactly debating metal sub-genres or anything. Just curious how they are related to metal at all. While you're at it, you'd better go shake a finger at the hardcore/emo sub-forum.
