Its cool PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe, Partly my fault though - I will make my posts clearer from now on, sorry for the confusion, anyhow I like to think every band has its own sound and genre's (especially sub-genres) can sometimes really annoy me, but I admitedly do tend to (evidently) label banRAB like 'mallcore', but its the only way I can stay away from the music I don't like, ie factory produced music. (again, labelling )

Overkill, Metallica, Rob Zorabie, Alice In Chains, Black Sabbath, Dio, Danzig, Nailborab, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden
NOTE: I do consider Danzig metal, his stuff is to dark and hard not to be!
I mean, you're completely right when you say this:
The only thing I would really argue is the generic comment. I really don't think Slipknot is generic and one of those reasons is because they've mixed a lot of different genres into their music.
I am aware that very few will agree with me here, but y'know, that's life.
1. Reverend Bizarre: It's a shame these guys disbanded. Very slow and doomy.
2. High on Fire: Incredibly heavy.
3. Melvins: The masters of sludge have got to be metal, not grunge.
4. Black Sabbath: tons of classic doom songs in their early work
5. Katatonia: utterly enjoyable doom-death
6. Monster Magnet: great stoner metal; At least I guess it counts as metal.
7. Judas Priest: Normally I prefer slow sludgy sounRAB, but Priest is too good to leave
off a top ten list.
8. Tad: grungy metal
9. Alice in Chains: more grungy metal
10. Blue Oyster Cult: surely, close enough to metal
Wow, I did some extra research online and you're right. I wonder why a lot of places still say that they are a metal band? A band should be classified as it wants to be classified even if others may have a different idea of things.
