well, as I said, that is just my experience. maybe I have talked to the wrong fans, but I have talked to many, MANY fans of Iron Maiden. The funny thing is that many kiRAB in elementary school listen to Iron Maiden, and when I asked a forth grader why he likes Iron Maiden he answered: "Because metal is cool", and when I asked him what other banRAB does he like, he couldn't name even one. That was 5 years ago. Now he doesn't even listen to metal.
 
Probably the only band apart from Judas Priest to keep people interested in Metal between 1980 and the Thrash movement. Also constantly sell out EVERY gig they play with the same line up since 1983 and still don't do hit singles. The hardest working and most respected band in Metal.

If you don't like them that is fair enough but overrated? not a chance. They have earned every accolade bestowed upon them.
