I would mind some serious answers. I think that since these funds were the Senior debt holders, shouldn't they get a bigger chunk of the pie? Also, was it wrong for Obama administration to call them un-American? Don't these funds have a fiduciary responsibility to their stockholders to recover as much debt as possible?

I never really liked the idea of hedge funds. I think they got what they deserved for trying that.

Shawn, that was Sarah Palin.

Its a good thing for everyone but the people working at chrysler becuase obviously they don't have jobs. But now that Chrysler has gone under, the money will go to the other companies and stimulate other comanies and funnel to them.

I think Obama should shut his liberal mouth in scolding the hedge funds. The big 3 don't exactly have a good track record as of late, and the economy doesn't look like it will be getting better anytime soon. You can't blame them for wanting to take their chances in bankruptcy courts. Besides that, it wasn't the hedge funds that took this company down, it was the UAW. God bless.

I think the president nailed it right on. The hedge funds made a highly speculative investment. The value of their investment has plummeted, but they wanted the government to pay them off as if Chrysler was a huge success. In bankruptcy court they will get little or nothing, but they were willing to take that chance rather than come to a reasonable agreement to save the company and get some return on their investment. They are like someone who bet on a losing horse but demands to be paid as if it won. I have no sympathy.

These Hedge funds as Obama calls them have a duty to protect their investors. These are people like you and me who invest our money in 401 K's to these so called Hedge Funds. I would rather have 65 cents on a dollar in Bankruptcy court than for them to take a hit with our 401 K money and only get 35 cents on a dollar. Once again, whose side is Obama really on? Doesn't look like to me that he's got our back!

I completely agree. It is disgusting that the administration used slurs when it did not get what it wanted.

This administration will stop at nothing to get the control of our financial system that it wants.

It was not the hedge funds that pushed Chrysler into bankruptcy. It was the fact that Chrysler is a company that has not been making a profit and has no real prospects of making a profit in the forseeable future.

The fact of the matter is that the managers of the funds balked when they saw exactly how much money Obama's plan was going to cost them.

Apparently - Obama thinks that you are being 'un-American' if you do not do what he wants you to do.

gambling with stock options is not fiscally sound and reeks of inside trading....Hedge funds suck

It was not hedge funds" that pushed Chrysler into bankruptcy.

It was UAW with the support of protectionist Congress that pushed Chrysler into bankruptcy.

As to senior debt holders, 70% of senior debt is owned by large banks, which are now controlled by Obama through TRAP money, this is why they agreed to take a hit, certainly not in good faith. Never mind that the remaining 30% are kept by pension funds and the like - and those will take the real hit.
