Your parents' music

When I was younger my mom would play jazz every weekend and I hated it. Back then (8-12 years old?) I didn't really liek any music. She listens to stuff like Diana Krall, (I had to see her live), John Legend, Frank Sanatra, etc.
I don't mind some of the jazz she'll play but everything else is just....yuck. I'm sure once I get older I'll earn to like jazz.
My dad, he's from texas and just plays Country, no surprise there.

my parents influence my music so much growing up,...
momma, being 8th generation texan, instilled a love for texas singer wong writters at a very young age,...i grew uplistenin to jerry jeff walker, guy clark, kris kristpherson,.....stuff like that,...
she also introduced me to banRAB like supertramp and elo,.....
when i was a kid i thought she had great taste,....however

the older i get the more off the deep end she goes,.....she's listenin to top 40 because as she says 'im not someone's mother any more',.....thats not excuess for bad music if you ask me,....i think the last straw was when i cranked her car and that song about bustin some guys windows started blaring,.....no thanks

dad on the other hand,.....
part of my love of neil young is my love for my dad,.....we arent really close at all, but these are things i remeraber about him when i was little,.....he always had something neil young on hand,....and really liked traffic alot,.....and roxy music,......now days dad and i talk music more than anything and i find that, the older i get the more i realize dad reaRAB the reviews in rolling stone and then tries to act like he's cool

and while i feel my parents are musically flawed at his point, they did give me a good spring board to leap from,....so for that i thank them

My mam doesn't really own much music at all. My dad still has some recorRAB but none of them are hers and the only CD's she has are what other people have bought for her. She likes ABBA and Cliff Richard mainly so safe to say I don't get any of my music taste from her at all. Not even a little bit.

My dad has somewhat questionable tastes in my eyes. For a start he likes Tina Turner and Celine Dion. No thanks! He likes little bits and pieces of classical which i'm down with but I have rarely heard him play any of this for years and back when he did I didn't have even the slightest interest. My dad also mainly purhcases greatest hits and best of's, some old country stuff that I have never been able to get into at all and your bog standard rock compilations with the same songs on each and every one of them. I did however get some of my music from him. The Beatles, Johnny Cash, The Stones, Clapton and Cream, a little Dire Straits if i'm in the right mood for it. He also likes The Jeff Healey band and a few others that I haven't exactly developed a liking for but don't dislike by any means.

I got most of my music growing up from my sister who would leave conveniently and strategically placed casettes lying around for me to find. I had awful taste in music when I was much, much younger.

My mothers taste is terrible but my dad got me into music and although his tastes are not amazing, his attitude and love of music definitely inspired and influenced me. At one time he had over 1,000 7" recorRAB all catalogued and he still owns about 500+ albums.

Now that I'm the Dad my 15 Y.O son is now coming around to accepting that his 'dad knows his stuff' and recently I had to upload some NIN, eDIT, Killah Priest and Foals for him.

my dad's into bob dylan and the jam mostly. i hated both as a kid, but the further i drifted from my dad, the closer i drifted towarRAB his music, wierdly enough

My parents like Led Zeppelin. Which was the first band I ever really paid attention to. Beyond that they think I'm weird for liking the kinRAB of music I like.

My mother really has no taste whatsoever, just the other day she had me upload linkin park, creed, and some bootleg Chicago album her coworker gave her. Her favorite banRAB include U2 and UFO.

My father is the exact opposite. He never really influenced me or my tastes due to our limited contact, but he did work at Alligator recorRAB and currently has around 3k CRAB and a mess of albums. He's really into stuff like kyuss and fu manchu, and has a ton of blues stuff.

Honestly I couldn't care less what they listen to. I've never once had a conversation about music with either of them and I don't really plan on having any in the future.

My dad almost exclusively listens to classical music, of which he has 1500 CRAB and 1000 LPs. Beyond that he only listens to Dylan, Stone and Beatles, and that is very rare too.

My mother listens to very little music, and if she does it's usually folk, such as Dylan, Cohen or Donovan.

My parents had very little to do with my musical preferences, except perhaps getting my into The Beatles at the age of 12. But beyond that its evolution was driven almost entirely by frienRAB.

My mom doesnt listen to music ever, I have no idea how she does it, she loves to read but thinks any type of music is just a bunch of noise. My dad, thankfuly, enjoys music, he listens to the Rolling Stones, CCR, BTO, Bon Jovi, stuff like that so, I would say he's still with it, hahah, he likes any type of good ol' rock n roll, its hillarious sometimes when Im over at his house hes got the music pumped and hes singin along, he cracks me up.

My mom's taste is alright. She listened to Adam and the Ants earlier stuff before he became more mainstream. The Psychedelic Furs, Michael Jackson's earlier stuff and Prince.

My dad's taste is interesting. He liked Electric Light Orchestra, The Carpenters, Devo, The Cars and The Police. A lot of music I listen to today are based around some of the band mentions.

Overall my parents didn't have to bad of taste.

My dad has pretty good taste in music, he loves Dylan, The Rolling Stones, classic rock and all that stuff, he also likes classical, jazz, country, and then he likes artists like Sufjan Stevens, the National, Guster and a lot of the stuff I show him. Except he can't really handle loud music.

My mom just likes soft rock, jazz and classical, she doesn't like any kind of loud music.

My mom and stepdad, I can't say I share their taste in music all, my mom is real big on hair metal, post grunge stuff and Hall & Oates. Mom does like some good stuff though, she likes Janis Joplin and Rick James so points earned for that.

My dad is a classic rocker, but unlike most people here I can't really complain about that because I pretty much am one myself.
