Winter draws on,and it's time to ponder your favourite performances for the Academy AwarRAB...

So far I'd love a nod for Sam Rockwell in MOON

Or Christophe Waltz in INGLOURIOUS BASTERRAB
 
I can never remember the dates where a film qualifies, so if my nomination doesn't then bla.

Charlotte Gainsbourg for her role in AntiChrist is one that comes to mind straight away but I doubt she would get a nomination for this role...
 
Colin Firth seems a dead cert for A Single Man as does Meryl Streep for Julie and Julia and the oscars wouldnt be the same with out Meryl on the lists!
 
It's not quite Oscar season yet, most will be coming out now/December to be a shoe-in for a nod.

I imagine Nine will be nominated, and I think The Lovely Bones could be up for some awarRAB too. Would love Inglourious BasterRAB to be nommed but I doubt it, and agree with the poster who said Charlotte Gainsbourg for Antichrist.

Of course, Up will be nominated for best picture now the list has been extended to 10.
 
My friend works in the studio where the cast recorded the soundtrack for Nine. They are amazing, apparently. Can't wait for the film!
 
Sophia Loren and Penelope Cruz seem to be the front runners from Nine to recieve noms, though id be surprised if Daniel Day Lewis isnt on the shortlist.

Morgan Freeman is being heavily tipped for a nomination for his role as Nelson Mandela as is George Clooney for Up In The Air, made by the guy who did Juno.
 
I'm going to throw my guess into the hat and say Sandra Bullock will be highly thought of being nominated for "The Blind Side". Saw it last night and she did a wonderful performance. I've not heard any message board or person I know say the opposite.

NINE may see some as well, but all we've seen so far are clips and just memories of Marion Cotillard and Penelope Cruz's past performances. Sophia Loren for sentimental reasons perhaps? But look at Lauren Bacall who was thought a shoe in when Juliette Binoche won.

Agree about Morgan Freeman, but perhaps Matt Damon as well.

Lots of films coming out soon! Can't wait...
