Just got some bad news about why my bike has been running like shit (dying if I don't give it gas) in the low gears ever since I bought it back in June. I have a 2001 996S. It has a full termi exhaust on it, but the chip is for slip-ons, single injector. So they plugged that chip in and unplugged one of the injectors on each cylinder (i have dual injector's on the S model if you didn't know).

I bought this bike from a dealer in Los Angeles (who shall remain un-named for now) who I feel should have caught this huge mistake when they "inspect all used bikes before they sell it". Granted I bought it back in June and I only investigated this problem now, I feel that it could have been avoided back when I was buying it.

Now I have to find the correct chip which I have no idea where cause the dealers say they can't order it. Does anyone have one or know where I can get this chip?

If the problem is caused by the slip-on chip and they knew the bike was using a slip-on exhaust chip with a full-exhaust sytem when they sold it to you, then it's time to go bash some heads.

so my mechanic told me that one of the belts was way loose, about to fall off...so that is what is causing my engine to die in the low gears most likely. Might not be the chip thing...I'll know for sure tomorrow...

about $300 for torquing the belts, adjusting/tuning what needs to be, and to replace the chain.

aside from the chain i feel like i shouldnt have to pay for this belt thing cause it was bought in that condition...

bought it in June of 2009, after picking it up told the guys what happens asked them if it is running fine and they said that it is. I thought maybe I needed a tune-up or something..what do I know? I was just going to wait till I needed an oil change and tackle everything at once. But I took it out a few days ago and it was really bad, not to mention dangerous the way it was jerking in the low gears (I had my g.f riding w me) so I took it in.
