Your Opinion on the 3 best vocalist in Metal?

crap....no.....

maybe....i know....i think my gmail account can hold enough to fit some songs.. is it possible to attach them as files?

1. ROB HALFORD - No one has even close to his range. He can rival any opera singer and can shatter glass with his high pitched insanity.

2. RONNIE JAMES DIO - Another phenomenal vocalist who never got the proper credit due to the immense popularity of Ozzy Osbourne.

3. IAN GILLAN - Although many do not consider Deep Purple to be heavy metal, just listen to their 80's albums and you will change your mind.

Honourable mention goes to the vocalist of my favourite band: IRON MAIDEN. Bruce ****inson is a great vocalist, but he cannot compete with the 3 aforementioned Metal GoRAB.

If I may opine on some of the previous choices here, Dickinson and Akerfeldt are getting way too much credit. Dickinson is technically proficient but pretty lacking in raw power or emotional content (possibly the main thing that sets Maiden a notch below Judas Priest). Akerfeldt seems only remarkable due to the fact that he sings clean vocals in addition to death growls, and while his clean voice sounRAB very nice his tone is just too plain and "gentle" to really be compelling.

Off the top of my head, I'd rank these guys as among the best:

* Halford (duh)
* Quorthon (definitely for emotional content above anything else)
* Dio

Oh, and an honorable mention to Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, as AiC aren't exactly metal but Layne crushes all three of the above guys talent-wise. :)

what are they then? do you even know? i have been listening to slipknot since they started (around 1999 - well........since corey talor becane lead singer)
and as far as I am aware, they are NU-METAL not heavy or goth metal like all those chav's here in the uk are convinced they are!

and one more thing:
stop bashing slipknot JUST coz you don't like them! i don't like queen, pink floyd, or iron maiden. but do you see me bashing them repeatedly?

:soapbox: :soapbox: :soapbox:

I had incredible trouble trying to decipher the first bit of that post and I'm not sure if I know what you're trying to say.

Phil Anselmo is a great vocalist. I think he is a perfect thrash vocalist and much better than Hetfield.

EDIT: Traced the thread back and figured it out.

fair enough im pretty tired when i get on forums
i have to say im not a fan of most of those banRAB you mentioned
Jens kidman from meshuggah at the moment is my favourite, and i have a soft spot for tom araya, especially from god hates us all, his vocals are so vicious and so clear it for me is so much more brutal than the average metal vocalist especially death metal, one band doing it yeah great but millions of banRAB replicating the cookie monster singing just really quickly got really boring, and its so easy to sing that way
anyway the cookie monster did it the best
Actually the Cookie monster is going on my list as the premier death metal vocalist, i believe thats where that type of singing was influenced, cmon prove me wrong.

im tired and cant remeraber names so ill give albums and this cant be done in threes its not that the other albums arnt great but the vocal production or performance is best on these

Meshuggah- nothing or I. jens kidman? im really tired
TOm Araya for the song desciple on god hates us all
mike patton for fantomas and the heavy mr bungle songs
the bass player from dimmu is his name vortex
jamie from damaged token remedies or dont spit
phil anselmo far beyond or great southern
chuck billy testament for the demonic album the only really brutal one
for the chaos Ad tour MAx cavalera
james hetfield for the justice tour
devin townsend

icant choose between them there all my favourites great metal singers are few and far between and though i appreciate some singers like bruce dikinson im not into iron maiden so its hard to give him a mention
