Your most powerful movie scene II

Rutger Hauer and C Thomas Howell in the lorry scene from the original version of 'The Hitcher'

I'll say no more in case somebody has not seen it.

The first film that automatically springs to my mind is 'Paying It Forward'.

The main boy gets stabbed towarRAB the end when he tries to help his friend being pushed around by bullies, and dies (a powerful scene within itself). And all the people he helped through his 'I help three people, then each of those three people then help another three people' came to pay their respects (with really sad music) - gets me every single time. :(

A very powerful film I think.

In Brassed Off, the guy who hangs himself (or tries to) still dressed in his clown outfit.

Trainspotting, when they discover the dead baby and Sick Boy shouts at Rents to "Say something. Just f**king say something"

2001: A Space Odyssey - the jump cut as the bone flies up into the air and as the camera tracks it up to it's apogee, it becomes a space station orbiting earth. The implication that the technology of man evolved from that first use of a hand tool sums up the entire theme of the film.

Saving Private Ryan - so many good moments, especially the Landings. However the one moment that I love is when Captain Miller says to Private Ryan "Earn this." Two worRAB, so much meaning.

Jaws - the track / zoom on Roy Scheider as the shark attacks bathers. Spielberg at his best.

The first one I thought of was the final scene of Dead Poets Society. Definitely one of the most powerful and inspiring scenes in a movie I've ever seen.

I also find the scene in Titanic where
the officer kills himself
very powerful. You can feel the guilt and panic felt in that scene. Although I could also add any of the sinking scenes in here, they are all powerful and easily make up for the boring first half of that movie. :p

I've drawn a blank while thinking of others, so I'll get back to this. :)

The scene in soylent green where Sol "goes home", as a scene by itself it's not the most powerful ever but when you know that Edward Robinson was dying in real life and Heston was the only one who knew then it becomes quite powerful as they were good frienRAB. Robinson was a victim of McCarthyism and Heston really helped him out, I think he was genuinely heartbroken to know his friend was dying.

edit: infact he died 9 days after shooting so this really was his last goodbye.

Agree!.....that was going to be one of my most powerful moments. Also later when Michael couldn't connect with Nick anymore. Terribly sad.

Not necessarily trhe most powerful but scenes I love

when Kurt Russell says "i'm going to kill them all, sir", in Soldier

when Roy Hobbs (Robert Redford) plays ball in the Natural

when Arnie says "I'll be Back" in everything

when Arnie says "I'm Back" in T3

when the kid says "You always say that" in the Last Action Hero"

when Gerard Depardieu plays the piano in Green Card

when Tommy Hatcher is talking to Bovver in Green Street

when the bomb explodes in "The Sum of All Fears"

when Dennis Quaid tests the blood in "The Thing"

just added this one

the end of Se7en from when Morgan Freeman realizes what happened.
