Your favourite Villains in the Animation world?

which villain is you ABSOLUTE favourite? Heres my list starting from 8:

8) Garlic Jr(DBZ)

: Ive just went through the Garlic JR saga & wow! Thats all i can say. Garlic Jr is just one of those guys thats although short, hides the deadliest weapon of all. And he even has immortality in the series. Now if anyone wishes for immortality that will get themselves on the list, but anyone who can get very close to destroying the Earth is batshit insane. Im sorry but theres no other word for this guy. Pure mad, pure genius, purely underrated. And you cant deny that.

7)Harley & Ivy(Batman)

: I cant just choose One! That wouldnt suit Ivy(She'd poison me). Anyway, They seem to make the perfect crime partners. After all youve got the acrobatic skills and stealthiness of Harley and the rather deadly sting of Ivy. In fact, if there was one for every king in the crime buisness then Harley & Ivy would be the queens. And that one scene where Harley pulls out that Rocket Launcher at the traffic lights always makes me giggle.

6)Zechs Merquise(Gundam Wing)

: Probably the greatest pilot to have ever been heard in an Anime show, Zechs has an impressive skill rank within the Gundam universe. He also has a Tallgeese which looks like it can still kick Starscream's arse(eg Episode 16). Which is a bonus seeing as compared to the Mobile Suits looks a little outdated. The only thing that prevents him being higher is that sometimes he is a walk-a-fine-line-type of villain. But there is NO way you cant deny his awesomeness.

I know it isnt exactly all 8 but im doing this in parts. Also this is MY opinion only

I don't really have a list, but more of a general idea of one.\
Joker, Green Goblin, Dartz (I am jumping around a bit), and others I can't come up with atm.

Hmm... in no particular order:

1. Demona (Gargoyles)

She is just such a three dimensional and fascinating character. A very rich and deep history there. A great character design, and Marina Sirtis was just awesome in the role. I don't think she's been replicated since then.

2. David Xanatos (Gargoyles)

Another terrific villain. While he's been imitated since then, there was never an animated villain quite like him before. Jonathan Frakes was terrific at making him cool and suave. Quite possibly the most intelligent animated villain ever. They didn't name the "Xanatos Gambit" after him for no reason.

Xanatos is everything Lex Luthor wishes he was.

3. The Green Goblin ("The Spectacular Spider-Man")

One word, wow... just... wow. A magnificent bastard and a complete monster, whether he's the Green Goblin or

. Steve Blum was deliciously evil and maniacal as the Goblin and

Alan Rachins was cold and cruel as Norman

. And I loved Cheeks' re-design of the character.

The perfect adaptation to this classic villain.

4. The Joker (DCAU)

Do I need to say why? Perfect, absolutely perfect. And just like Steve Blum as the Goblin, you'd never know this was Mark Hamill.

5. Vicious (Cowboy Bebop)

Cold, calculating, and a brutal killer. Ambitious. He's rarely seen, and he rarely speaks. But, damn. When he shows up, death follows in his wake. Perhaps my favorite animated gangster.

6. Griffith (Berserk)

I'm sure Mynd Hed will agree here. If I had to pick the most evil character in animation, ever... it would be Griffith. So ambitious, so charismatic. You don't think he's the bad guy. Her certainly doesn't think so. He's loved and respected by his soldiers. He looks like a Galahad-ish hero. So pure. But then,

he starts assassinating his political rivals, attempts to become King of Midland, is tortured and mutilated, and finally sacrifices the troops who love him to demons so he can become a member of the God Hand, and then rapes his most loyal soldier, Caska in front of Guts (our protagonist). Now, that's evil.

And I'm not even getting into the manga.

I'm sure I'll have more. But I'll stop at six. Heh, my own Sinister Six.

Earl/The Phantom(Flying Rhino Junior High) - A funny, wacky villain who wants to take over the school by bringing fantasies to life.

Aku(Samurai Jack) - He's evil, awesome, sadistic, & yet funny with a great bizarre design which Mako did awesome in his evil character.In Duck Dodgers episode, Samurai Quack, Achoo is a copy of Aku also voiced by Mako that looks like Daffy/Duck's cat alarm clock, hahahahaha.

Ryouko(The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) - Cute, popular blue-haired girl who turns out to be a psychopathic killer which her battle with Yuki was scary & awesome but I'm sad that she died though, she was awesome.

Naga/Masquerade/Hal-G/The Vexos King/Prince Hydron/Spectra Phantom(Keith)/Prof.Clay/Mylene(Bakugan:Battle Brawlers/New Vestroia) - All of them were great, power-hungry, megalomanical, calculating villains which both Masquerade & Spectra Phantom were Dan's major evil scumbag rivals & Prof.Clay was the best, worst, horrible jerkoff father since Gendo Ikari & Ryuken Ishida, hehehe.

Lord Genome/Evil Rossiu/The Anti-Spiral Leader(Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann) - They were awesome, frightening villains in such an awesome giant mech series ever along with their amazing, scary powerful giant mechs as well.

Risako(AIka R-16) - Awesome, sexy evil teacher chick whose catfight with Aika totally ROX.

for me bad guys come down to a very awesome quote form alfred hitchcock " fear is in the anticipation of the bang not the bang itself."
there is more to evil/bad guys but to create a classic bad guy that philososphy so to say is very crucial.

sheere kahn is a great villian. he has that clout of superiority that makes anyone feel very uneasy. i have always thought that making people beleive that person is evil is one of the most important things in a bad guy. i honestly think it is just as important as doing the deed itself.

xanatos perfect version of the evil corporate mogul. luthor is very good but i have always had a hard time really hating that character.

aku. evil, funny, and the writers perfected the whole just..that.. last.... little.... bit... Where your goal is so close and your objective more important than your next gasp of air.

fire lord ozi: mark hamill creates a true character in avatar. he is someone that you really despise, and even though he stays mostly as the boogey man thorughout the series until the series finale. you understand his evil and grow to fear him with the characters almost.

azula: the finale sinced it for me. her final screams of agony were awesome and gave the moment that weight of realism that will carry though for a long time. plus i love the cold calculating types.

speaking of the cold calculating types Mr. Freeze: everyone of these threads have to have Mr. Freeze. i love his line in batman:TAS when the goon gets his leg frozen and Mr. freeze replies "he should have been more careful." he is ruthless, unforgiving, and if you get in his way he will not hesistate to take you out. you are in his way and you will move or be disposed of.

dark side: he is evil in the world. everything must cower underneath his boot otherwise there is no need for it to exist. somewhat 2 dimensional but those 2Ds are very brutal and you need someone to fill that void of the guy who conquers to conquer.

the clock king: a personal favorite he is what you want to do when life seems like it takes joy in kicking you when you are down. he snapped and decided to get his revenge.

MOM: the uncaring corporate giant whos intense rage often comes out in the way most of us express our anger when we literally can not control the word that come out of our mouths.

the riddler: one of those great make you think type villains. not really one the great planners behind some of the more infamous events in super hero history. though he consistently creates that feeling of the unknown, and indesiveness that most can genuinely understand.

batman TAS joker: another shout out to mark hammil. i love his joker laugh it is simply the best.

rita and lord Z (toss in goldar for good measure): a very important part of my childhood they hold the place as 2 of the first villains i ever knew.

fnially AAAAHHH SIDE SHOW BOB!!!!: kelsey grammer should do more voice work i love his acting and i love his VA better. bob is a great villain has some great ideas, and is solely driven with one intention, kill bart simpson. his character has risen with the show and has spawned many fan favorite episodes. my personal favorite is "brother from another series" where david hyde pierce is bob's younger brother cecil and is the bad guy for a change. his intelligence, arrogance, and obsessiveness makes him a world class villain, while his prat falls still make you feel for a attemted murderer. Bob is one of a kind with a great history and rarely fails to deliver devilish villainy, with tremendous comedic timing.
quick question does anyone know the status of the episode where john mahoney plays bob's father? i really want to see it.

i know we are not doing a league of evil, but while others may have better technology or power. my villains will out plan the rest of you, and make me smile.

Doofenshmirtz (Phineas and Ferb) - He's hilarious. He always adds inator to his inventions and he has no illusions of world conquest because he always aims for the tri-state area. Not to mention he has his own jingle.

Aku (Samurai Jack) - I don't really like him that much but I like to see Jack slice and dice him.

Him (The Powerpuff Girls) - Pretty much the most powerful villain ever. He never "truly" gets defeated (except in that Beat-Alls episode) and when he does get "defeated" it's only because love hurts him and forces him to retreat. Give him a world of hate and absolutely no love and he'll be running the place in a matter of seconds.

The Red Guy (Cow and Chicken) - He always has a faux name that relates to him having no pants and he tortures anyone from Cow to Weasel. This guy can even walk with his butt. He's my most favorite cartoon character period. Only one comes close and that's...

Mr. Selatcia (Metalocalypse) - So far everything he's done is cool. Even just saying a few words. He was up top with The Red Guy but when I saw what he did to General Crozier I bumped him down a level.

A fellow Him fan, cool. I'd agree with you about the becoming less cool thing but I don't recall him getting much airtime at all during the newer seasons. Except when he re-created the Rowdyruff Boys. After that I don't remember anything else he did.

Piccolo Daimao- Used the Dragon Balls to regain his youth, none of that "Make me the ruler of Earth" wish. He knew he could take over the earth, but he took his time. He was able to beat Goku more than once, something most villains in Dragon Ball haven't even accomplished at that point.

Crocodile- Set up a coop while pretending to the hero to the people of Alabasta. Defeated Luffy twice in the series, almost to the point of death. He was a bit smug, but however that came from his power and skill, unlike say, Don Krieg? He was able to get the Kingdom of Alabasta to go to war with itself. He basically did all this to find the Poneglyphs and rebuild the ulitmate weapon, "Pluton." Did this while retaining the title of "Seven Warlords of the Seas" and a being the head member of "Baroque Works"

Frieza- Committed genocide on an alien race so that a fabled warrior from said race wouldn't kill him. Invaded Namek for the Dragon Balls, so he can become Immortal Life and go around killing and enslaving planets for the rest of eternity.

Griffith- Like GregX said, he was a normal person, he actually cared for his soldiers, but then he got a taste of power and decided that he wanted more, to the point that he ended up backstabbing everyone that was considered a good friend.

: I know your scratching your head asking why is she even on the list? She isnt a villain, shes an anti hero. Well right me from wrong but how many villains can you think of that is the queen of diclonious, can rip people limb from limb and most exciting of all, do it all without even wearing any clothes? None that i can think of. Shes also the most screwed up character in Anime history(believe me, you should watch Episode 8, its probably one of the most screwy episodes ever.)

4)Joker(Batman)

: Why do i even need to explain who The Joker is? Hes the clown prince of crime! And the best thing is you never knew who actually acted the joker, just like Steven Jay Blum as the Green Goblin.

I wonder in which category of villains Treize and Lady one? In the case of Lady Une, she was responsible of killing Relena's adoptive father but she seems to have found the light after she was seriously wounded by a shot from Chief Tsubarov.

Also, in Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz, Zechs had joinned the good guys to face another villain: Dekim Barton

And for favorite villains to add to the list, I add this group of stupid villains, The Daltons from the Franco-Belgian comic Lucky Luke. Fictionnal cousins of the real Dalton gang, their popularity eclipsed the original brothers, Joe was the smallest and thinner of the fictionnal brothers while Averell is the complete opposite of Joe (and is often hungry asking when they're gonna eat) with Jack and William in the middle

i gave credit for ozi more from the writers perspective, and the talent of mark hamill. to barely see a principle villain that is responsible for so much and still have feelings of anger, and a little fear. it is a alot of the whole anticipation of the bang thing but it works great. i also totally agree about azula. her character is the perfect villain, which was finished off in one of the most realistic ways i have ever seen. avatar was a great series i am not looking forward to the movie at all.

Olrik from Blake & Mortimer (both the excellent comic and the not-quite-so-excellent animated series): Pure class and very mysterious to boot, since we never learn anything about his background and whether Olrik is his real name or just an alias. My only complaint concerning this character is that he's severly overused, to the point that he's lost some of his edge. Still, one of my favorites, though.

Johan Liebert from Monster: A worthy candidate for the title of "Most Evil Character in Animation". As a child, Johan caused the caretakers and the children at the orphanage he was in to kill each other and he pretty much continued on the same road from there. The fact that he's incredibly good-looking, soft-spoken and polite somehow only serves to enhance the wickedness of this character.

Feathers McGraw from The Wrong Trousers: Who would have thought that a penguin could be so..menacing?

Dr. Claude Belgon from The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello: Sure, he doesn't really become the villain until the last minutes of the movie, but feeding your fellow crewmembers to a monster is pretty evil. Not to mention that you could sense there was something unsettling about this guy, the moment he turned up on screen. Hmm, must've been the goatie.

Princess Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender: I was thorn between hating her for her many wicked deeds and admiring for how good she was at being bad. In the end, I even pitied her a little.

Mr. Burns from The Simpsons: I wanted to have at least one comedy villain on my list and Mr. Burns is just too excellent to pass up.

I'm also a fan (in lack of a better term) of Xanatos, Griffith and The Joker, but they've already been mentioned in this thread and I doubt that I could add anything to what has already been said about them.

My personal favorites

Denzel Crocker (The Fairly Oddparents): Sure, more powerful villains have come on the show, but Crocker was always my favorite. He was funny while at the same time being a threat to Timmy (especially in Abra-Catastrophe!).

Arlong (One Piece): The things he does are just so sadistic that you really love it when Luffy defeats him.

Father (Codename: Kids Next Door): This guy was great as a mysterious character early on, and revealing his backstory gave him an interesting personality to explore.

Joker: The DCAU version was definitly awesome. Don't know what to say that hasn't already been said.

Him (The Powerpuff Girls): This show was great, but I never got as into it as some people. That being said, I loved this villain. His episodes you always remember. Speed Demon was probably the best, since he technically won.

Slade (Teen Titans): Mysterious, cold, and calculating. Need I say more?

Azula (Avatar: The Last Airbender): I can't say anything this thread hasn't already said.

Dr. Doofenshmirtz (Phineas and Ferb): His relationship with Perry pretty much equals comedy gold whenever he's on screen.

I was quite surprised to find Elmer Fudd listed as a villain with Wile Coyote and Yosemite Sam... seeing as they never seemed like villains to me... antagonists perhaps... to the main character, but certainly not evil in any way.

Hmm well for my list i'll say them in order worthiest to least worthy to the best of my weak memory's abilities.

Mister Burns

The most influential character to me, and the one who has given me most of my ways and personality. He is also a likeable person, and not one of those unlikeable 'insane' villains, but rather a regular antagonistic character who enjoys amusing himself with the more inferior life forms about him.

Doctor Drakken

Upstanding fellow... Good villain. Certainly not as influential to me as Burns, but a good character nonetheless

Doctor Doofenshmirtz

Good villain. Perhaps a trifle weak when it comes to his nemesis Perry and perhaps more of a comical villain

Shego

With Drakken, she is a worthy villain and a good partner to Drakken in his schemes, a worthy villain
