Your Favourite Disney Films?

I've just finished drunkenly sobbing my wee heart out at The Lion King and I was wondering what your all-time favourite Disney films are?

Mine have to be The Lion King, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast :D

I'm honestly not that keen on the Disney animations and never was (even as a child). I preferred Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry and wouldn't have the patience to sit through a film-length cartoon.

Mary Poppins was good though and I saw one the other day 'Three lives of Tomasina' which I'd forgotten about.

My OH says he likes the Jungle Book but I have never seen it on TV: only clips on things like Rolf's Cartoon Club.

Come to think of it, I can't recall any Disney animations being shown on TV. Is it a right's issue?

Snow White and the Cat from Outer Space, both for sentimental reasons - Snow White was one of the first films I went to see with a girlfriend and Cat from Outer Space was the first time my dad took me to the cinema.

Believe it or not, Pinocchio is one of the world's great works of art. It's exquisite and an absolute masterpiece in terms of direction, narrative and of course the total mastery of the animation. It's one of the few films that raises the genre to the level of painting, literature and music.

:)

No rights issue that I know of. Just their policy to not over saturate the market.

They do show classics on Cinemagic, but its not the full back catalogue.

Indeed, beautiful film.

Sleeping Beauty is a work of art also.

I'm always sad that when it comes to talk about Disney films, The Sword in the Stone is overlooked. It's my fave of the classic animations; great story, great characters, great film!

Of the live action stuff, I love Mary Poppins (just amazing) and have a big soft spot for Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
