M. Shadows(Avenged Sevenfold)
Anthony Keidis(and the rest of RHCP since they write too)
Early Gwen Stefani/Tony Kanal(No Doubt)
Davey Havok(If he writes his own stuff...not sure if he does. Later AFI lyrics are great though)
Brian Bell(once again, if he writes the lyrics for Weezer)
and
Amanda Palmer(Dresden Dolls....not tachnically any kind of rock, but then again, they're not really anything)

Bob Dylan had some good ideas...but I cannot stand to listen to the man. Lyrically, he was alright.

Dude IMO...Zeppelin did write some pretty sweet lyrics...Ex. Misty Mountain Hop ( LOTR refernce ) ...BTW im not sure if i was true but i heard somewhere that the zeppelin IV was based on Lord of the rings...when you listen to some things it does make a lot of sense...

Well I can't find hardly any flaws with Maiden's lyrics except some of their later stuff, but Dance of Death was awesome lyrically.

And as for Zeppelin I don't think as much of their early stuff when I think of their great lyrics. However Presence from begining to end is as solid lyrically as you can get. Achille's Last Stand is spectacular from a lyrics standpoint.

Robert Plant
Roger Waters
John Lennon
Eric Clapton
Jon Bonjovi
Rob Hofford

9 pages and so far no-one's mentioned Gil Scott-Heron yet?
Shame on us!

And only Seretony's list mentioned Jeff Buckley . . . (well considered list btw)
His dad Tim Buckley wrote a couple of blinders too.

And if I'm delving into slightly more obscure folk lyricists anyway, (hats off to) Roy Harper: So good Zep named a song for him, and both the Floyd and Kate Bush (who by rights neeRAB a mention here too) had him as a guest vocalist.

By choice I don't listen to them much myself, but feel obliged to tip the hat to the talents of Van Morrison, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Leonard Cohen and Bernie Taupin too. though I'd really rather hear someone else cover their tunes though.

And in no particular order, and because they haven't been mentioned yet (or often enough)
David Byrne
Kris Kristofferson
Johnny Cash
Ray Davies
Stevie Wonder
Joni Mitchell
PJ Harvey
Thom Yorke
Alanis Morrisette
Marilyn Manson
Jim Thirwell (Clint Ruin)

and whoever pens the worRAB for Death Cab for Cutie, The Kaiser Chiefs and The Killers definitely deserve a little appreciation here too.

. . . did I forget anyone?
