Your Favorite Classic Anime series (Besides Dragonball)

So many classic animes that need rerleeaes on DVD, how Ironic My own thread would make me want to watch them all even more.

but yea all of the ones you guys have named ive absoulutly loved (well except ones I havn't watched like Armored Trooper Votoms, Attack No 1. & Urusei Yatsura, may have to look those up.

as for the previous post about why no G gundam, I loved G gundam but Wing was the 1st gundam series I saw so it seemed only fitting to put it on there.

Personally my top 5 on My list would be.

Ruroni Kenshin
Tenchi Muyo
Case Closed
Yuyu Hakusho
& then the last spot would be a 3 way tie between Dr.slump Cowboybebop & salior moon.

still loved watching most of these series growing up, and hope to enjoy viewing on my TV the few that havn't gotten dubbed in english yet *Cough Dr.Slump, cough*

but yea it seems lately I find my self missing older anime series. So I'll deffinantly be hunting for these series on DVD during the summer, (Although that means I'll have to drastically decrease my comic boook & manga buying.) but as long & tedious as summers our, I guess it will most likely be worth it, Give me somthing good to watch on rainy days, LULZ!

Ok, even though I don't like anime's that have one shy guy living with 7 girls and each girl love him with some odd reason kind of thing, but Tenchi Muyo works for me. It's funny, action-pack, and decent to watch. And I do enjoy the dubs.

Plus, I got a soft spot of the Tenchi Muyo opening/ending songs:
OPENING- I'm a Pioneer
ENDING- Talent for love

Gundam Wing- always and forever. I mean, I enjoy NGE and Kenshin too, but Gundam Wing introduced me to a whole new world of adventure in anime (as well as yaoi XD, considering this series lead me to the initial discovery of that whole realm). Something about the characters will continue to make Gundam Wing stand out in my mind.

The only show on that list I don't care for is Yu Yu Hakusho *dodges angry fans*. I just don't find it very interesting.

Seriously, pick it up again, and don't stop until you at least finish Chapter Black. There's a reason I rank it so high, afterall. *waits for EK to give a lengthy response as to why Sam should*

Tons of good choices here, even if I wouldn't consider a majority of these as "classics". I love Yu Yu, Tenchi, Bebop, Outlaw, Trigun, and Eva a great deal, have good memories of Gundam Wing, Ronin Warriors, and Sailor Moon(even if it doesn't hold up), and like what I saw of Lupin III and Slayers, even if I can't commit. I've yet to read or see much of Dr.Slump, Case Closed looks sort of interesting but I don't feel like commiting to such a long-lasting show, thought that Ranma 1/2's manga is cute but not a favorite and I don't quite care for it's anime, and, quite frankly, hearing that Kenshin has an entire season of filler just turns me away from trying to get into the show, although I may finally start the manga soon.

Overall, I voted YYH, but in actuality, I meant to vote for NGE, but just saw YYH first. Even still, can't complain.

So at it stanRAB right now, Bebops in the lead with 7 votes followed by yuyu with 5 sailor moons in 3rd and tenchi/ wing & NGE are all tied in 4th.

its a close race folks but remeber only one will win, keep voting! MUHAHAHA!

now the rest of this post is dedicated to miss samanta!

and yes miss samantha you should pick up Yuyu again its quite entertaining!

Tempting~ buuuuuut, I'll pass. I have tried multiple times to get into the series, trust me, and it simply falls flat. Yu Yu Hakusho is just not something that clicks with me.

We've had this discussion countless times, Sam. Boo

Yu Yu Hakusho is my favorite show period. I agree with those saying that YYH truly shines in its characters. The main four are my favorite enserable cast of any series I've seen (One Piece and Bebop included) and Kurama is my favorite character (yes, even more than Suzaku and Sasuke, gaspshockfaint). The interactions between the main four are just brilliant and the way they grow both as a team and individuals never gets old. There is something timeless about how their bonRAB grow and strengthen each other.

And it treaRAB traditional shonen grounRAB carefully--the Dark Tournament, while being the traditional shonen tournament really puts its own stamp on the cliche and makes the concept its own--while breeching new territory, like the especially dark Sensui saga and showing things as not merely black and white. YYH is one of those shows that I can watch over and over without ever getting sick of it. Each character is unique, flawed, and endearing in their own ways. The YYH universe is so rich that I find myself returning to it constantly, more than any other series I've seen.

I love many of the other shows on the list, like Kenshin (another favorite shonen of mine), Sailor Moon (girl power, woo woo), Bebop (obligatory), Outlaw Star and Trigun... but YYH is just head and shoulders above them on a personal level for me. The series connected with me more than any other series has, and for that is has a special place in my heart and will likely stay at the top of my favorites list.

Again, I seriously think G Gundam neeRAB to be on this list. That was really my entrance into mecha since by the time I got Toonami, Wing had already finished

I mean, what are kiRAB more likely to remeraber? "SHINING FINGER!" or "No machine gun for him?"

Now, now, if she doesn't like it, then she doesn't like it. I'm actually fine with that. Everyone has different opinions. I will only give a lengthy response if someone says something obnoxious or insulting about a series that I enjoy. From what I can gather, she never said that he found YYH to be a bad show, but that its just not her cup of tea, and if that's the case, then I'm fine with that.

That's only the final season, though, and you don't have to watch that far. I still highly recommend checking out the first 2 seasons, as those are rather well done, IMO. I actually even find the Shishio arc to be done slightly better in the anime than it was in the manga. The manga is still better for its final arc, though.

Well, at least your vote helped contribute to getting YYH in the lead on this poll.

**Claps HanRAB**

That is by far the best post that I have seen on this site, so far. I pretty much agree with everything you just said, and I honestly don't think that I could have said it any better, myself.

I'd decided to vote for Dr. Slump... what can I say? I'm an Akira Toriyama Fan, and saw clips of both the anime adaptations. Would have voted for Fist of the North Star or Kinnikuman, but it wasn't on the poll.

I'd like to second GWO's mention of Legend of Galactic Heroes, giving it a strong recommendation on all counts...although to be quite honest for me that series still remains rather "new" in a couple of ways: I never had the chance to see it until a year or so ago and, for what it's worth, a lot of its subject matter continues to be surprisingly relevant. It's certainly a classic but, in a good way, perhaps it doesn't feel like one.

There are many series I could name, including several of those previously listed, but for the sake of variety, I'd probably have to go with Saint Seiya, which for better or for worse forever influenced my perceptions of the shounen fighting genre long before Dragonball, Zeta Gundam, the first Gundam series I ever saw and thus it had a greater impact on me than Wing, Revolutionary Girl Utena, which was full of often confusing syrabolism but is nevertheless a great shoujo title, Giant Robo and Gunbuster, which for different reasons remain my two favorite mecha titles overall (aside from LOGH).

Whoops! My bad.

Well, I fixed up my post to make sure that I addressed HER correctly.

Wow, I completely forgot that I even wrote that review. Its definitely better than my TV.com review of YYH, which sickens me now whenever I even look at it. I can't believe how biased I made my review sound back then, and in such a whiney manner. I must say that I think I did my review much more justice in that MAL one, but even then, apparently 12 out of 48 people from that site did NOT find my review helpful....It must be the length, of course, because, I mean, we all know that nobody could actually disagree with me about YYH being completely freaking awesome, right!?!

Well, everyone except for people like this guy, as well as this dude.
