Tristan&Isolde has got to be my absolute best! It's such a fantastic story, so sad, too. But so beautiful!
P.S. I Love You, man that movie made me cry!! I think it's the first and only movie that has made me bawl like a baby. I usually just tear up, but for this one... wow!
The Notebook well, you know. Whenever someone mentions 'romantic movie' everyone thinks of The Notebook! :P
Also: A Walk to Remember, 27 Dresses, Ever After, The Perfect Man... and a lot more :P

That's the right thread for me :D

I'm a sucker for romantic movies so here we go ;)

The Horse Whisperer - I know that movie's not all romantic but it is about the healing power of love. It is such a powerful and moving story of love and loss that eschews melodramatic manipulation in its pursuit of a simple, honest tale. I haven't read the novel by Nicholas Evans upon which the movie is based, but if it's as good as the film adaptation, it's easy to understand its appeal.

Walk the line - I think the love of Johnny Cash and June Carter is one of the greatest ever  Plus there's great music! ;)

No reservations - first of all it's got Catherine Z.-Jones in it, one of my very favorite actresses and I just like the storyline which is so sweet and lovely.

The lake house - magical and cute. I've loved Sandra and Keanu together since Speed :)

Sleepless in Seattle & You've got mail - I love both of them so much and I just always fall for Meg/Tom movies. They're one of the cutest movie couples ever to me

While you were sleeping - can't resist Sandy films either :P I love everything about that movie, especially the character of Lucy. So lovable :)

Pretty Woman - anyone who knows and loves that movie knows why I love it ;) one of the best romantic films of all time to me :)
Dirty Dancing - same as above! ;)

Kate & Leopold - another movie I can never get enough of. Hugh Jackman plays the perfect gentlemen from 100 years ago winning Meg Ryans heart in the sweetest way :in_love:

Love actually - totally agree on that one with crazy4pacey_99 :)

Hope floats - yet another Sandra Bullock movie I'm hooked on, love the theme and the soundtrack also.

Sense and Sensibility, the way Alan Rickman plays the Colonel I just melt. And I rewind and rewatch the scene where he says in that great voice of his. "Give me an occupation Miss Dashwood or I shall run mad." The fact that both the good guys who got the girls in the end were real men. Who were not two dimensional characters and treated women both like a lady and an equal.

Uh Blah dont worry, i also find Cruel Intetions some what romantic with so much passion though, but thats probably because resse and ryan got me hooked, and their chemistry in that movie was soo damn good, it made me happy to know they where together in real life, but sad to know they got divorce after so long.

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days - Its a very funny and a cute romantic comedy.

Titanic - My all time favorite romantic movie..lol it gets to me everytime.

A Cinderella Story - This is so damn cheesy, and soo teenish, but its soo cute though, i love it..lol

My favourite will always be True Romance. The chemistry between Patricia Arquette and Christian Slater is super hot, and they play off each other really well. It's just so cute! Even though there's a lot of violence and profanity, I still consider it a romance movie ♥

So I finally saw PS I Love You
and I'm officially hooked.
I just had to go out and buy it.
And now I cannot wait to read the book.

awww.. i love romantic movies and i hve seen so many...but my faves are
titanic how can you not like it?
atonement its sad but i still love it....
doctor zjivago
becoming jane
virgin territory
i love lots more but those have got to be my faves....
i really like sad endings

His Girl Friday- Okay, I don't know if I'd call this specifically a romance, because its also got comedy, screwball, and maybe even crime movie, but I think the real appeal for me was always the back and forth of Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell. They were a great pair, so funny, and so meant for each other.

The Princess Bride- :sigh: Amaaazing! Sweet, funny, and I loved all the characters, not only the romantic pair.

When Harry Met Sally- Classic! I love 80s movies. And for me this hits all the bases- best friends, bantering, amazing New Year's scene, and good acting pair. :D

The Notebook- Beautiful movie, so romantic. I think a lot of other movies can be catagorized as romantic comedies, or historical romance, or dramas, but I think this movie is truely and completely a romance movie.

Breakfast at Tiffany's- I love this movie. It's such a classic, and I really adore the ending scene in the rain. I also adore the character of Paul. Everyone loves Holly Golightly, but Paul really shone for me too, and together they were amazing.

And, because I can't choose just 5, there's also: Bringing Up Baby (Grant and Hepburn!), Some Kind of Wonderful (How Pretty in Pink SHOULD have ended) and You've Got Mail (Meg and Tom are great together).

I don't watch most romantic movies lol so my list is a little different:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Not the typical romance, but a fascinating movie that is definitely worth watching over & over.

The Graduate - I realize I'm going back a ways with this one, but this is just such a great movie in general. The ending is priceless!

Garden State - Cute movie with a good soundtrack & very dramatic ending.

Cruel Intentions - Again not your typical romance, but it was definitely not lacking in passion. Great soundtrack!

Ghost - I know it's cheesy, but it's a classic.

The Bachelor-Chris O'Donnell was funny. He was so bad at popping the question, he kept messing up but in the end he realized that he loved Renee Zellweger and he finally got it right.

If I had to pick my favorite romantic movies it would be Brown Sugar and The Illusionist.

Brown Sugar-I love that the characters Dre and Sydney are best friends first and over time their friendship grew into something more. That's one of my favorite romances. You just see how well they know each other and how well they connect, it's like they share the same brain.

The Illusionist-It's like watching a magician version of Romeo and Juliet, only it had a real happy ending. It keep you guessing what Edward Norton's next trick was going to be. I loved it!

I agree.
I cried for like fifteen minutes after I got done watching it.
It's just so tragic but that's the way real romance is.

Tell our story Christian,
that way I'll always be with you.

The Phantom of the Opera is my all time favorite love story! :D

Here are ones of my faves:

Pride and Prejudice
A Walk to Remember
While You Were Sleeping ( I love Sandra Bullock)
10 Things I hate about you

I was thinking about movie romances today and a film that I instantly fell in love with but forgot to mention last time is a small film named Dogfight with River Phoenix and Lili Taylor. Its about a marine on his last night in town just before he's about to be shipped to the Vietnam war. Him and his buddies play a game called Dogfight, each put in money and the guy who brings the ugliest date wins. Lili's character was Eddie's (Phoenix) date and inevitably she finds out about the game. But this starts such a wonderfully poignant story between the two as we see Eddie trying to apologize by taking her out and seeing them connect and fall for one another on their only night together. It takes an ugly duckling concept and sticks with it, although you find the character more and more pretty during the course of the movie because shes just so damn likeable. And you know she's made an impact on him to be a better person even though they've only known eachother a few hours.

The developing relationship between the two is just right, the characters are pitch perfect. These two are just so sweet together, and their awkward first kiss is just love. The ending also warms my heart. I adore this film.

i LOVE How to Lose a Guy in 10 days.

so cute. romantic and funny at the same time.

oh and the 40 year old virgin. i know its really more of a comedy, but i think it was sweet how she sticks with him.

There haven't been many rom coms lately that have captured my attention, my favorites are still the same ones from a few years ago. It's sad the rom com has been in such a slump.
