good choice! I'm a huge Topher fan. :) See if you can get the reference to my account name. lol

Penelope was a good movie. It just proves it's not about the looks, it's the person that counts.

Titanic - I actually had to see it like a hundred times before I shipped Jack/Rose!!! I eventually realised how beautiful and tragic this couple really was

Sleepless In Seattle - I love the end scene where they meet and the Tom/Meg chemistry is just amazing

You've Got Mail - a really fun movie with them only knowing each other through the internet, when really they know each other in real life, but as business enemies. Again, the Tom/Meg chemistry, just wow.

Moulin Rouge - sooooo tragic. And they sing beautiful love songs. Just a great movie.

Love Actually - two scenes with the Mark/Juliet potential pairing - when she watches the tape he's made with clips of only her; and when he's at her doorstep holding signs up. Absolutely beautiful

The Notebook - genuinely sad/moving movie, with unbelievable Ryan/Rachel chemistry, loved their scenes.

A Walk To Remember - really sad and yet beautiful ending; Shane and Mandy had a great chemistry and made such a cute on-screen couple.

Little Women - BUT it's not fair. I wanted Jo and Laurie to end up together!!! I know it was written in the book that they didn't, but omg I wish they had! Winona and Christian just had a great vibe in scenes together.

I agree about Sliding Doors, Rona Jo.

Sliding Doors-I thought it was fun seeing the two different storylines if Helen caught the train or not. I loved her relationship with James, he was a sweetheart. Gerry was a boob.

My fav ones are :

The Notebook : For Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams chemistry and the stroy... Good lord the story, as i'm too much sensitive, it nearly broke my heart. Hours after I watched the movie I was really down
I was like wtf! the day after.

Pride and Prejudice : Great acting, great directing. What more is there to add? :)

A walk to remember : Mandy Moore really bluffed me. She did a really great job. Her chemestry with Shane West was mind blowing. And also because besides the love story, the movie has a real message. That you are giving everything to be better and that you just have to wake up and use it.

#1. Pride And Prejudice (2005)
3665019std.jpg

Without a Doubt, this is probably one of the most Romantic movies I've ever had the pleasure of watching. I've yet to read the novel, everything from the Atmosphere, the costumes, and the acting is absolutely beautiful. Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen bring Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy to life with their compelling performances as two characters so in love, yet restrained by their personal beliefs or "Predjudices".

#2. Something New (2006)
l1290840437777c8b5a17c.jpg

At first glance one could easily write this off as another "Black Romantic Comedy" about a interracial couple complete with a "Sex and the City" band of girlfriends (only a thousand times better on that angle), but when you watch it really is more than meets the eye. It takes a what would be an otherwise formulmatic story and breathes new life into it by avoiding most of the usual routes, and invests alot of time into the characters, even the minor ones. Its yet another movie that had me saying "I want a [Brian Kelly] like that".

#3. The Lake House (Il Mare) (2006)
lh1j.jpg

During my open aversion toward Romantic Movies (I was closet Chick Flick fan :D), I told my sister and mother that I was going to watch this movie only for the "Science Fiction" Angle of it; Two People Corresponding via Mailbox that transends time and space. But Really, I was sold into seeing this movie because my two favorite actors were together again and I heard Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know" in the trailer, which at the time, was the ulimate love ballad for every fandom you could think of. Overall, The Lake House turned out to be a love story that left an major impression on me and got me openly admitting that I enjoyed watching Chick Flicks as much as the next person.

#4. Becoming Jane (2008)
4991428063.jpg

When I first watched this movie, it took awhile to grow on me; Buying Anne Hathaway as the famous novelist Jane Austen was not the problem (she manages to pull of a very near-convincing British Accent and conveyed what could've inspired Miss Austen to write the tales she did). It was buying James McAvoy as her love interest. At this time I'd grown weary of seeing him all over my television screen in the wake of Atonment, more or less because I couldn't see him as the "Sex Symbol" they were selling him as. But those Personal Prejudices aside, Becoming Jane is a far cry from the 2005 Adaption of Pride and Prejudice, but its still a very beautiful film that had me cheering for Jane as she attempted to find personal happiness with Mr. Lefroy. Definitely one for fans of Jane Austen movies.

#5. 27 Dresses (2008)
27dks01.jpg

I'm no fan of Katherine Heigl, but she really made 27 Dresses what it is as the Bridesmaid who was seemingly destined to be nothing more than just that. But the best part of the film is udoubtedly the fact that James Marsden gets the girl in the end, all to the tune of Corinne Bailey Rae's "Like a Star".

#6. While You Were Sleeping (1995)
wywshospital.jpg

Probably one of the first Sandra Bullock!Chick Flick I watched as a kid, one I was extremely in love with even if I had only seen once and never saw it in its entirety. I got to watch it again recently, and while Its not as great as I remembered it be, its still a very endearing, enjoyable movie. I had such a thing for Bill Pullman back when :D.

#7. Jane Eyre (1996)
janeeyrever1y.jpg

One of the rare occurances in which I could say I read the Novel before I saw any of its screen-adaptions. Anna Paquin was one of the main reasons I ended up watching this version of Jane Eyre, and aside from changes near the end of the film that made me say "That didn't happen in the book!" as they were pretty faithful to it throughout the beginning, I bought Willam Hurt as Mr. Rochester and Charolette Gainbourg as Jane Eyre. They really brought the characters to life with their performances.

#8. Two Weeks Notice (2002)
788505twoweeksnoticepos.jpg

Yet another Sandra Bullock!Chick Flick, that works simply because Bullock and Hugh Grant's chemistry is so electric on both a comedic and romantic level. You wanted to hate George Wade, but the way he rationalized things to Lucy Kelson made me smile.

#9. Mozart & The Whale (2005)
52952313193180b2bab.jpg

This is one movie I went into seeing Blind and fell in love with. I know little to nothing about Asperger's Syndrome (but reading some reviews for this movie implies that it was conveyed convincingly by Josh Hartnett and Radha Mitchell), but it was nice to see a movie portray characters with this type of autism as completely capable of taking care of themselves and functioning in everyday life. Hartnett and Mitchell have such a wonderful kind of chemistry; Josh Hartnett was absolutely adorable as Donald Morton. Plus it introduced me to the band South ("Loosen your Hold" is so awesome).

#10. Waitress (2007)
waitress.jpg

While more of a Dramadey than actual a Romance, the moments between Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion were so touching that I actually forgot sometimes that Dr. Pomatter was married because I wanted him to end up with Jenna. Alas, it never came be to be, but it was fun while it lasted and in some ways I'm kinda glad they didn't end up together as odd as that sounds.

#11. Definitely, Maybe (2008)
definitelymaybeposter.jpg

While the movie's main attraction is the relationship between the movie-father and daughter duo Ryan Reynolds and Abigail Breslin, the tale of of Wills Haye's trails and tribulations in all 3 relationships he had with April, Summer, and Emily during the 90s' and beyond was compelling (and not so cliched) if only because of the Nolstalgia that surrounded his story.

#12. Atonement (2007)
atonement460.jpg

A sad tale of lovers, seperated by a misunderstanding that actually had me crying at the very end of it. I really didn't expect to enjoy this movie, everyone was kissing the ground it walked on (over enthusiastically so), but it truly was an experience to remember.

#13. Tristan and Isolde (2006)
franco.jpg

I wasn't expecting anything terribly great from this story, but I thoroughly enjoyed Tristan and Isolde. However, watching more than once ended up making me wish there had be more depth to their romance (most of it felt like Sexual Gratification) and firstly, their friendship.

Bringing Up Baby: It's hilarious and I fell in love with Carey Grant after I saw it... And how can you not love a movie starring Katherine Hepburn?

Romantic movies are the only movies I adore.
I especially love the ones that make me cry.
I tend to be quite a sap.
:)

If I had to name my top five this would be it:

1. The Notebook.

prod_743_22689.jpg

Now I realize everyone lists this one high on their list.
But I really fell in love with this film the moment I saw it in theaters.
Maybe because it reminds me of my first love.
Because we truly loved each other above all else just like Noah & Allie did.
I still cannot watch this movie without crying.
It just has so much meaning and brings till death do us part to a whole other level.
Sigh.

Because I have loved another with all my heart
and to me that has always been enough.

2. Tristan + Isolde.

tristan-and-isolde-0.jpg

I think this movie gets overlooked far more than it should.
This movie is about true love and all the high costs that can come with it.
It's a tragic tale but one that will surely leave its mark when you watch it.
I just adore historical romances like this one.
Even if it is only fictional.
It's truly heart wrenching and of course can't stop me from crying.

Isolde: Know that I love you Tristan. Wherever you go, whatever you see. I will always be with you.
[His last lines]
Tristan: You were right. I don't know if life is greater than death. But love was more than either.

3. Twilight.

617.png

It's a forbidden love story between a mere mortal and a intoxicating vampire.
Of course Bella and Edward had no idea what they were both in for.
He had no idea how hard his silent heart would fall.
And she had no idea that he would dazzle her from the inside out.
I'm an avid Twilighter like the rest of the world seems to be.
But I was one long before the movie.
I was a fan when Stephenie Meyer was just this Mormon who had a dream
about a vampire and thus Twilight was born.
Their love story will always be among my favorites.
They captivate me on the pages and on the screen.
If you've read the books, you know what I mean.

Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night.
Very dark, but there were stars — points of light and reason . . .
And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. S
uddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty.
When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon,
everything went black. Nothing had changed,
but my eyes were blinded by the light.
I couldn't see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything.

4. Sweet Home Alabama.

SweethomeAlabama.jpg

I just love this romantic comedy.
The tension between Melanie and Jake is so endearing.
They were childhood sweethearts and almost divorcees,
until they realized lighting really does hit the same place twice.
I always end up crying at the end.
It's just so sweet.

Melanie: Why would you want to marry me for?
Jake: So I can kiss you anytime I want.

5. Pride & Prejudice.

PridePrejudice.gif

Elizabeth Bennett almost ruins poor Mr. Darcy in this film, doesn't she?
She's so blind and ignorant to the fact that he obviously adores her.
He just has a peculiar way of showing it.
My favorite scene is when they're standing in that field at sunrise
and he just holds her face and rests his forehead on hers.
There are no words that need to be spoken,
no explanations necessary.
It's utterly lovely.

You have bewitched me body and soul.
And I love, love you.

Love Story I don't think anything will ever top it. Their story is just so beautiful and tragic!

Glad to see there's another fan. :)

Another one I love is...

Picture Perfect: Once Jay Mohr's character is re-introduced his chemistry with Jennifer Aniston just dominates the movie. I love how Nick is with Kate and how you see her gradually falling for him, the guy she should be with. I loved the moments when they actually got to know each other, and when she finds the watch he left her in the end, that is so sweet! I love how she goes to find him and asks him for a date.

^I loved Forney/Novalee from Where the Heart Is.

ive watched many romantic movies but my favorites are:
becoming jane- i just think its so sad and beautiful at the same time....
atonement- it was just amazing story line and just romantic...
pride and prejudice- again love the story line and just think its sweet
city of angels- i love how he gives up almost everything to be with her
stardust- i think its really sweet the way they first think the other is just irritating and end up falling in love
titanic- its just romantic and sad as well as well done
the mayor of casterbridge- i just really love this one i think its a great storyline
bridget jones- its funny and sometimes sweet.

Just saw Elegy. Ben Kingsley and Penelope Cruz are amazing in it, and it's such a sweet movie! The ending had me reaching for my box of tissues it was so tender, romantic, and loving. This is definitely in my top five ... maybe even my top two.

Definitely my all time favorite has to be A Walk to Remember even though it's such a sad story. I've watched it so many times I can't count anymore.

Where the Heart is, I love how they slowly fell in love with each other.

She's All that, Zack the all time hot rod student president falls in love with the school art nerd.

I am not much into romance movies in general, but these are some of my favorite movies period:

Ever After - This is greatest Cinderella adaptation ever and I've watched it so many times I have lost count. Although I'll admitt, I do skip over some of the super sappy parts.

Brokeback Mountain - In my opinion the most tragic love story ever written. And overall just a very beautiful movie.

Favorite romance movies:

~ Tristan + Isolde
~ Pride & Prejudice
~ Beauty and the Beast
~ Casablanca
~ Titanic
