Your Deepest Musical Secret

I actually like some of Barry Manilow's music

I really like Britney Spears (though I wont defend her voice)
I will willingly listen to Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus (though, same as Britney, I won't defend her voice)

I used to listen to the worst music ever..... but now I absolutely hate it!

Geez folks Savage Garden are an incredibly soft target. May as well bitch about The Bay City Rollers. Look it aint my kind of stuff but they are not that bad in their given genre are they? Not sure if I disliked them that much I would even listen to them and then bother commenting. Seems like a waste of listening time to me.

I absolutely detest Grease in fact virtually all musicals annoy the crap out of me except for Oliver! and thats probably because I was in it for a Senior school play!

Haha that's one of the better descriptions of math rock and post rock I've heard.

As far as avant-garde goes... I've always looked at it as more of an urabrella genre that encompasses a collection of different, but kind of similar genres. Kind of like how "Extreme Metal" encompasses death metal, doom metal, black metal, grindcore, gore grind, death/doom, blackened death metal, etc. etc.

I like quite a few "Mighty Rhapsody" songs .. and I like some of the synthpop hits from the 80s like Sandra's "Maria Magdalena" or Samantha Fox's "Nothing's Gonna Stop me Now".

It's a bit erabarassing, but compared to some of you other freaks, maybe not so much. ;)

Hey, I'm working at it.
Mmmm ... no, I listen to everything. Take your pick. I like cheesy music, stupid music, bad music, kiRAB' music, music from TV aRAB....

agreed. but that cuts in so many different directions too.

people who like it because they like it? fine
people who like it because they think they're supposed to? lame
people who hate it because they checked it out and it made their ears bleed? fine
people who hate it because they think everyone is supposed to like it and they want to show the world how different they are? lame

i could go on but that pretty much covers most bases. as the gap widens between the era when the 'classic' style was first in prominence and when the contemporary listeners become the generation of choice within popular culture i think we'll see even more warped reasoning as to why people to chose to listen or ignore.
