what are your best films, an scary films of all time? and what was the worst film you have ever watched?

other- pretty woman
grease
10 things gate about you.

scary- Halloween
Hostel

worst- dirty dancing 2
jaws.

My favourite film of all time is "Henry V "- the Richard Brannah one. I watch it over and over again - I just love it.

I also like "Rebecca" as that's my favourite book of all time

and "Babe"

and "The Court Jester" - with Danny Kay. I know it's very old but it's a real classic and still makes me laugh every time.

I don't watch scary films - they're just not my sort of thing.

I can't think what the worst film I ever saw was - there have been so many.
I thought "Titanic" was pretty dire though.

I found "Star Wars" and "Lord of the Rings" unwatchable too - AND the Harry Potter films and any Kung Fu films.

Also I can never follow a James Bond film. I find my concentration wandering and lose track of the plot.

Best Films:

Aliens
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Heat
Die Hard 1 & 2 (don't make me choose! Seriously.)
The Green Mile
The Shawshank Redemption

Horror Movies:

The Shining
Halloween (1978)
Misery
The Descent (i hate the sense of claustrophobia)
The Omen (1976)

Worst Films:

The Birdcage (only managed the first 20 minutes, awful)
Underworld (a shoddy Blade rip off)
Bicentennial Man (......)
A.I. Artificial Intelligence (crap)
Wild At Heart (Weird, stupid, crap)

Each to their own :)

I normally like Robin Williams movies, and his stand up routines are some of the funniest things i've ever seen, but 'The Birdcage' just really got on my nerves, it just wasn't funny at all to me.

And i might have been a bit harsh on Bicentennial Man, i've not seen it for many years.

Best:

Mulholland Drive
Naked Lunch
The Abyss
The Usual Suspects
Bride of Frankenstein
Mon Oncle (Jacques Tati)
Citizen Kane
Rear Window
Jaws
Cassablanca
C'era una volta il West (Once Upon a Time in the West)

(sorry - being pretentious with the foreign title!)

Cult classics:

Repo Man
Freebie and the Bean
Cypher
Primer
Memento
Dagon
Flesh for Frankenstein
Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid
Zombies: Dawn of the Dead
Night of the Demon, Cat People (1942)
and I Walked With a Zombie (all by Jacques Tourneur)

Worst:

Ocean's Twelve
Tank Girl
Rat Race

Going by my best estimate of the films I've watched the most, my top 5 would be:

JFK
Goodfellas
North by Northwest
Mulholland Drive
Blade Runner

Similarly my ultimate 'horrors' or films with horror elements would be:

The Fog (original)
Predator
Psycho (original)
Halloween
The Devil Rides Out

For 'worst' I would select films that just bored me rigid rather than being bad...which can be entertaining in a twisted way. It's actually very rare that I find it a painful chore to sit through a film to the end but these certinly qualify.

Random Hearts
Dune
Stigmata
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
Star Trek: The Motion Picture

*sharp intake of breath* Add that to my favourite cult ones!

Favourite horror:
Night of the Living Dead (original)
The Haunting (original)
Night of the Demon
Eraserhead
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)
Videodrome
War of the WorlRAB (remake)

Best:
Alien
Aliens
Oldboy
Audition
Infernal Affairs
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Saving Private Ryan
Star Wars (IV - VI)
Enter the Dragon
Battle Royale
Fifth Element
Last Samurai

Horror
The Shining
The Descent
The Ring (Both J & A)
The Grudge (Both J & A)
Dawn of the Dead (Remake)
Premonition (Japanese, Not the Sandra Bullock film)

Worst
Pulse

For Pulse the American remake totally tarnished the Japanese original which did have some very eerie moments in it.

And the Horror ones I listed, I wasn't scared by them, just i like them under the Horror category, I very rarely get freaked by films anymore.

Thats just a few off the top of my head ATM, more for the Horror section will probably appear.
