Well Bill I guess you do see that people do in fact care--by far the best response has come from feelbad.
My short response (if that is really possible for me) is-one poster mentioned nerve problems, and yes that in fact can be a possibility. If you have every hurt your back or neck, one of the questions that a good doctor will ask you is "do you have any urinary or bowel problems?" remember the nerves in your body speak to your head and instruct the parts of the body to do things--move your arms, walk, speak, breath and yes time to go to the bathroom. A good neurologist would be the doctor to see. Another possiblility is the mobility in your bowl may not be functioning properly. This happens if someone has a history of overuse of laxatives (anorexic or bulamic patients are prime examples) it can also be caused by you guess it --Nerves. Another poster mentioned your colon maybe twisted, well that is certainly worth checking out. I do not know how old you are; however, if you are 50 or older you are ripe for a colonoscopy, that will certainly give the doctors a good picture of your colon. Personally, I was having problems myself--my saving grace, apples, pears lots of veggies, drinking lots of water and peppermint tea. I also really changed my diet, I actually went on a diet to loose weight (20 lbs so far) and stopped eating junk food and really concentrated on eating whole grain cereals for breakfast along with a low calorie yogurt, a piece of fruit mid morning (bananna or apple) a light lunch (not a sandwich) and the very best no sugar added dark choclate pudding (jello). I do not know if the fact that I have cut out alot of sugar and carbohydrates from my diet, however, I can attest to the fact that things are moving along quite well these days. Since you have had problems for awhile, I would certainly not expect miracles overnight, in fact if you ate 2-3 apples or pears a day you may begin to see some improvement, however, I would not be surprised if getting you into a routine would take a few months and that would be if you continued and did not give up.
These are all suggestions, but I think the best first step is to see a professional-make an appointment with your primary care to start the ball rolling.
I knew if would be to good to be true that my response would be short.
Good luck Bill--I feel your pain
