That's bloody Michelle McManus off of X-Factor in that clip !
Anyway, as much as i'd love to see it it'll never happen unless Ade Edmonson owes Nigel Planer a favour or three because Ade quit comedy a while ago.
I personally think the most likely thing that could happen is a special edition box set of the show with dvd commentary and maybe an all new documentary featuring the cast.
I can't see it being good. The Young Ones, although groundbreaking at the time, isn't that funny in the context of today. It makes me so sad that Ade has quit comedy though, his wife still produces incredible stuff, it's upsetting that the last thing he produced was utter drivel.
As an avid fan of the show I would watch it and love it no doubt.. However the sane part of my brain tells me that it just doesn't make sense, because it wouldn't really work.
I think the fan in me would just love to see them all back together again really.
Truly a series that ended much before it should have. Bit like Fawlty Towers.
not so (imho) ... they finished when they did because they ran out of ideas, leaving us with two seriese of brilliant comedy instead on half a dozen where they 'lost it', repeating themselves and a lack of new ideas. too many shows try to milk it which often devalues it .
I hated The Young Ones when it was first on.
I hated all the other programmes eg Bottom and Filthy Rich and Catflap.
Utter garbage.
I was about 15 when the Young Ones was on.
It's interesting (or not) that the idea has come from Nigel Planer. I'm sure if I asked him, he'd say he's worked non-stop since The Young Ones ended, but be honest, when was the last time you saw him in anything? I remember F, R & C, one episode of Blackadder III and, uh, that's it. Hell, even the one most people forget, namely Christopher Ryan, seems to have had more post-Ones success that Nigel Planer.
TYO, Filthy Rich and Bottom are pretty much my favourite shows ever.
Like everyone else has said, I doubt a YO reunion would work, but what I crave more is an Ade/Rik reunion. Utter geniuses.
