we already know the outcome. the public will vote to cut just about everything listed and then will be flat out ignored.

oops, already happened.

I've got an app on my blackberry that's a little more robust than this. It's called Visible Vote. You punch in your zip code and it displays your representatives and all of the bills they will or have already voted on. You say whether or not you agree and over time you get a nice picture of how in line your representatives are with your views. It even aggregates this data so your representative can get a look at how their constituents actually feel on the issues.

wont work at all, and is most likely just to gain political votes, BUT its a tiny step in the right direction and who knows maybe something will actually be cut which would be sweet.

I love how Republicans are trying to rebrand themselves as the party of fiscal responsibility. Obama and the Dems have a long way to go before the hit the Republican levels.

And just in case anyone has forgotten...

-In 2000 the budget was balanced and there was an actual plan on paying off the debt.

-Under Bush 2.0 the national debt doubled.

-Bush 2.0, (the "less government" Republican) signed the first 2 trillion dollar budget and he signed the first 3 trillion dollar budget.

in 2000 the budget wasn't balanced, the administration was moving numbers.

Under Bush 2.0 the debt did double

Under Obama 1.0 the debt tripled.

they hit republican levels in just a year and a half and are scrambling to spend much more as fast as possible.

The debt did not triple. If it did it would be around 30 trillion now.

Most of that money was spent cleansing the scourge that Bush 2.0 left on this planet.

That's really their only choice if they want a chance to get elected. A large part of Americans want fiscal conservatism, whereas a shrinking number of Americans want social conservatism.

Too bad that they'll go back to their old ways of spending money on whatever bullshit they feel like once they get back into power.

so should we go down that nice loooooong list of wasted pork spending and see how it was spent to "cleanse the scourge"?

How about we go look at all the democrats who were in control of congress during the last 2 years of bush hell who stood right there with him and caused the scourge too?

Or are we going to go back to the old partisan trick of forgetting allll about the Democrat congress voting lockstep with Bush from 06 on?

The partisan defending is really really pathetic nowadays. "BUUTTT BUUUUSSSHHH!!!!!"

guess what, I am in agreement that Bush and Republicans are fuckups, but every time you point at their failures, you blindly ignore the fact that your side was right there with them happily fucking things up too...with your support.
Go you.

too bad that chart isn't accurate

http://www.craigsteiner.us/articles/16

Fiscal yr. , National Debt, Deficit

FY1993 $4.411488 trillion
FY1994 $4.692749 trillion $281.26 billion
FY1995 $4.973982 trillion $281.23 billion
FY1996 $5.224810 trillion $250.83 billion
FY1997 $5.413146 trillion $188.34 billion
FY1998 $5.526193 trillion $113.05 billion
FY1999 $5.656270 trillion $130.08 billion
FY2000 $5.674178 trillion $17.91 billion
FY2001 $5.807463 trillion $133.29 billion

What Clinton did was paid down the PUBLIC DEBT using Interagovernmental holdings. In other words, he took money out of one pocket and put it in the other pocket so the numbers could be fudged to look good.

Sadly even though all this is right there on the US treasury website, people still are ignorant to the facts and believe the bullshit myth.
