You have been warned...!

A couple of reports of new movies on the way that I find bizarre and depressing in equal parts...

Bizarre first - Ridley Scott is to make a movie version of Monopoly the board game.

How?

How do you make a board game into a movie? He is apparently quoted as saying he intenRAB to give it a Blade Runner-ish, futuristic look.

I am hoping this one is a wind-up. It just does not sound like the sort of project Scott usually associates himself with.

And the depressing...Roland Emmerich, the once promising director of such films as Stargate and Independence Day, but who then started making bloated, CGI heavy, dodgy epics and disaster movies like Godzilla, Day After Tomorrow and 10,000 BC...has made another bloated, CGI heavy effects movie about the end of the world called 2012. And like Day After Tomorrow and 10,000 BC expect effects laden trailers depicting all sorts of natural disasters that we are supposed to look at and go 'Wow', but I am afraid I tend to look and say 'Yawn...here we go again'.

I've seen the trailer for 2012 and you are indeed correct. Looks like a tidal wave the size of the himalayas wiping out some mountain top temple. Go apocalypse!!

As for Ridley, i suppose it'll get him away from making any more propaganda films for the USA.

Thanks for the warning! :p

Agreed. Just what the world neeRAB, more CGI, that modern evil we are supposed to find 'awe-inspiring' but really just makes a film look like a computer game, no matter how big the screen or how ear-piercing the sound level.

Me too :o

It's a real guilty pleasure, actually most disaster movies are, I just can't get enough of them, if it's got big waves, volcanic eruptions, tornadoes, asteroiRAB etc i'm bloody there :D

I can see it being a coruption/dodgy dealings sort of film with the characters being named after the pieces for some reason such as 'Hat' because they always wear a hat etc

i agree though i thought "day after tommorrow" was good (apart from the simulated wolves scene).....i .thought he would have made a sequel to the brilliant "independance day "...the problem is with films today is they rely on too many special effects to carry films with bad scripts and dodgy acting!!

The boot - because he fires people all the time.

The dog - because he's loyal, or because she sleeps with executives to find out secrets and take companies over.

The car - because he likes cars (?)

The boat - the captain - he was in the navy, where he made his fortune in stolen gold.

The iron - a meticulous man with strong attention to detail, ironing out all loopholes and enemies before approaching a deal.

ALL BOLLOCKS!!! :D
