You Got Served: Battling it Out...It's so Sick!

i just watched this tonight, borrowed it from a friend, and MAN it's got some crrazy moves. just like you all said, the dancing alone carries the movie and is so incredible with all the styles mixed in. kudos to those dancers, way too talented!

as far as the acting's concerned, i too was a little irritated by Liyah. i guess that role is a little hard to play because you gotta play the sweet sister/girlfriend who's caught in the middle. but i think Jennifer Freeman could have brought a lot more into the role as a connector of the 2 friends. Beautiful was one of my favs too, she's just got that nice attitude, loved her presence.

you know what's funny about this whole movie..is that i look at the message of the story, that friends are above all, this and that. and b2k's not even together anymore ::shrugs:: but yeah, the movie's hella tight though! very entertaining :)

:star: purplestar :star:

I loved this movie. The danceing was so good. The guys looked hot. So its my kind of a movie.

The moves in this movie were awesome! Definitely worth watching it if you're into that types of stuff... or if you want to drool over marques houston

LOL....awww..jayta, you're so mean....
No sereiously, take a good look at both of them again!!
lol...it's ok, to each their own, but I agree 100% about Wade's hair, it's crazy as hell.

I like Elgin and Beautifull together too, but Elgin was such an ass throughout the movie (again sloopy writing) that I wasn't rooting that hard for them, oh well.
Either way, the dancing saved the movie and I hope for a second one.

okay...uh, wade/max hot?

sorry. :look:

maybe wade would be hot if he didn't have spikes sticking out of his head called hair. :P

jmo though.

but yeah, not a big fan of the acting. i think parts of it was good though...they were casual enough, they didn't seem uncomfortable on screen which was good.

i think sometimes 'actors' try to hard...

i am wanting some beautifull and elgin action though...lol. i love those two...well the 2 seconds they had on screen together lol.

but, mostly love this movie for the dancing....

I also have to say that You Got Served is just amazing movie because of the dancing. I mean if you're a fan of breakdancing or any type of dancing this movie is it, you'll never see more complicated, original and unique moves in a movie than this, it's just that incredible.

On the other hand, the acting and overall writing in the movie is a whole other story, it's just plain horrible in most parts, the characters aren't fleshed out at all.
Actually, I found myself rooting for the 2 villians Wade & Max and their dance crew because of the sloppy writing and acting of the "good guys" (it also helped that Wade & Max are both hot), but seriously it's bad.

Overall if you're fan of dancing and want to see some jaw-dropping moves, buying the DVD is more than worth it, plus the commentaries are hilarious and the cast is able to poke fun at themselves. But if you're looking for steller acting and great direction, this isn't for you.
I'm really looking forward to YGS 2 though.....

I saw the movie too.

The dancing was awesome. It was really good and original.

However, I thought some of the acting could use some work and I really did not like the story line.

My favorite character was Beautifull. lol. she was funny.

And yeah, Liyah's innocence was annoying.

You Got Served was a much better movie than Honey though. Honey had the worst acting I have ever seen..

Surprisingly I actually want to see this film and am pleased with your comments.

I can't help it - I'm a sistah! ;)

Kay thought I'd start this thread. I rented it the other day, not expecting too much out of it and found how surprisingly good it was.

I loved the dancing...ohhh, there was sooo much dancing! :pinkie: Good makings of a dance movie. :)

And I loved how everyone who acted could dance - well, whoever was 'casted' as a dancer.

I didn't mind the story much. The characters weren't *as* developed as I would have liked. But man oooooooh the dancing ;)

 The dance battles were sick! As the choreographers kept saying during the commentary. I enjoyed it thoroughly and watched it numerous times.

I never once got tired or bored of watching the dances. It just was sooo awe-inspiring how they could do those moves.

As far as story goes, I'm glad that Elgin also did not have a love interest, although I'd rather it would have been him with the love interest rather than David. As much as I'm sure Jennifer who played Liyah, is a great gal and wonderful actress...she irritated me!

I could not stand her sweet innocent act...gosh, made me want to :hammer_head: myself.

The romance between David/Liyah, was a little contrived and I didn't care one way or the other whether they got together...and ewwww...when they slow mo the lip lockage :sigh:

Instead I would have preferred a coupling between Beautifull and Elgin. They had good chemistry and Megan was great as Beautiful. She didn't irritate. She wasn't all sweet and good...she had a little spunk.

Overall I'm definitely buying this dvd just for the dancing alone...but overall I enjoyed the smaller supporting characters such as Rico...

If you guys haven't seen it...go and rent it...oh, heck buy it. It's worth the money.

In the commentaries they spoke of a YGS2 and I got so excited. I hope they are making another one and I hope that they keep the original cast. And this time have Elgin and Beautifull couple up.

Such a great movie. Makes me wish I could dance....
