...return the book one week later? The book was purchased from a store with the following return policy: "We accept returns within 14 days of purchase with your receipt. Merchandise should be in the same condition as at the time of purchase". The book is being returned in the exact same condition as purchased. The consumer purchased the book to study for an exam, and is now returning it as it is no longer of use.

You decide: Ethical behavior or not?
 
Firstly, I doubt they'd take it. They'd look at it and say, "Oh, an exam book, being returned after a week. Nope, sorry." and hand it back.

Secondly, I'd say that it doesn't matter. That company makes millions and millions of dollars, and so does that bookstore chain, most likely.
