" you are fishing" what does that mean?

my guy friend told me ,yo are fishing.. what does that mean? I asked him"did you misss me? He said yes, then he told me I am fishing? What does he men by this!
 
He means you are asking him, in a round-about way, to say yes he missed you very, very much.

He thinks you were "fishing" (asking) for a compliment or a positive comment.

Personally, I don't know why he didn't just tell you, yes he did miss you or no he didn't.
He seems to be a very suspicious sort of guy.
You only asked him a simple question that needed a simple answer.
 
He meant you are asking Qs to gain some info from him or 'fishing for compliments,i.e. hoping to get him to answer you in a pleasing way
 
When someone is fishing, they are looking for meaning beyond what was asked. In this case, however, he is saying that you're not just asking him if he missed you, but how much did he miss you and why did he miss you so much. That is, did he really, really, really miss you or did he just miss you a wee bit.
