You are basically paying $250 for a new controller system with the wii

Just like to add, the Wii has alot more graphical power than an Xbox. Thats a shit load more than a gamecube but not quite as much as the 360.

Its very strange how you dont enjoy the experience though. You are one of the very few who dont enjoy the controller. Most people think it adds immersion.

OP poster is correct in thread title. The difference is the Wii is more fun than the GC was. But you are overpaying on the hardware side.

I bought one and while I am not too happy with Wii Sports I think it's got potential with games specifically designed for it. NOT ports of stuff like Marvel UA or some platformers. Zelda is awesome but it is the Gamecube version with a swinging sword added.

what is cool about the ps3? shitty games and their controller got worse as far as I'm concerned. the only way it is worth anything is as a cheap blue ray system. I think the only systems worth getting right now are the wii (for fun)and 360 (for graphics, & slight fun).

what nintendo should of done is instead of giving the gamecube a facelift with a new controller, they could of just created an adapter of somesort to use the new controllers. Fuck paying 250 for a revised gamecube.

im impressed with the controller and wii sports. There are going to be many awesome games that take advantage of this.

And I can't wait to get this hooked up via component cables. RCA cables look horrible on my 2407

Does it really use the exact same hardware as the GC? I find that hard to beleive.
The graphics also look better than the GC, at least to me. On the surface they may look similar, but really the depth is greater. Higher-quality textures, better lighting-effects, higher-poly models, etc etc.

What games have you played? Also keep in mind that even on an existing system graphics can improve a lot over time.

I really want one now, especially after playing Zelda for a while at my friend's.

It could. But even better is watching people play it. That is worth more than the whole gameplay experience.

System has potential but as far as comparing it to the other two is moot. They are really 2 different things.

I know it's kinda stupid, but I'm buying one just hoping that lucasarts comes out with a cool jedi game. Not that I won't enjoy any of the other games, but that's my main reason.

As for the ps3, I really wasn't impressed with the demo I played. The first controller wasn't fully functional (some buttons had quit working) so I had to use the second controller. The game demo I played was the racing game (can't remember the name) and the graphics weren't what I thought they'd be. I was amazed they didn't put better game demos on it. I'll probably be waiting till next year to get one after they get a chance to iron out any problems it may have.

They aren't using the same hardware as the GC. The GPU, CPU, etc. are completely different. Where the heck did you get the idea that they were the same?

The initial Wii games are underwhelming graphically, but this is the first gen, and many titles were late ports from Gamecube development. 2nd gen titles should look noticeably better than Gamecube graphics, although still not close to PS3/360.

I recently read an article saying that LucasArts is "looking into" making a game where you use the Wiimote as a lightsaber, a geek's whet dream.
