I live in Turlock and make the "120" ride over Tioga pass often - Wife just turned 62, so we now have the $10 Lifetime NP pass - so we don't have to pay the $20 just to ride over Tioga pass. We have a ride planned for Sept 12 - over the pass - 395 up to OR then over to Hells Canyon and into ID ---

Anyone coming this way and doing the ride over Tioga pass and towards Take Tahoe/Reno... Make sure you take time to ride around Lake Tahoe and if your in the Reno area - take some time and visit "Virgina City".

Glad to see y'all enjoying the Sierras. Sometimes, we 'don't see the forest for the trees' here in the Carson Valley. We're in the Lake Tahoe foothills right in the midst of some of the most scenic rides in the country...Ebbets, Monitor, 108 over Sonora, 120 over Tioga to Yosemite, Hwy 49 from Placerville to Oakhurst, Hwy 88 over Carson to Placerville, Geiger to Virginia City...& of course Tahoe passes Spooner, Kingsbury, Luther, Mt. Rose, & Hwys 50, 89 & 28 around the lake...even Hwy 395 is a beautiful ride. Sorry about the boasting, but like I said, sometimes we're too caught up in the daily routine to fully appreciate where we call home.

What the hell am I doing?! Screw work...I'm goin' for a ride!

Early to mid fall is great but you never know. We had morning temps around 40 early this week in Reno. A few days later it was mid 50's early morning and 95 mid afternoon.
Generally bad weather doesn't last long in the Sierras in the fall.
It actually snowed at 9500' earlier this week.

.

We are getting ready to do a 4 day tour from the bay area...........(week end after nest)........ through Yosemite, up to Reno area and back down around the Tahoe area, then home.

Got some 2-1-2 that will show up Monday and I will be set to go. Can hardly wait.

Hwy 36 is very pretty and some parts are very twisty, about 50 miles from Red Bluff there is hamburger stand on right at Mad River make a stop help the lady out good food. There is not much in Eureka but traffic chaos.

We will be at this place for Lunch on Sunday, Sept 12 - come on in..

this is one of the best kept secrets for FOOD coming out of Yosemite on the Eastern side
