Yeah, one ankle is twice the size of the other...

About a year ago at Philmont I sprained my ankle really bad (black bruises on the entire side) and I had to bushwhack with it for 10 miles and then I had to hike on it with a nice little pack for even more miles the next few days. Kind of hurt. Ever since then I never got it checked or anything and just every once in a while it will all of a sudden come back hurting in full force. Well I was playing football with one of my friends frats and I sprained it again. I was just wondering if I should get it checked out if anyone had any experience with sprained ankles. It doesn't hurt as badly as last time but it is swollen to twice the size of my other ankle. Kind of cool actually.

You're an idiot for walking 10 miles with a sprained ankle. You should definitely get it checked out to make sure you didnt do permanent damage.

Yes, actually. I did get mine checked out, but somehow they missed the broken ankle for the broken hand. I was in a pretty gnarly accident, and ended up with multiple problems. They addressed one. I found out later on that I'd had an avulsion fracture, once my ankle started to deteriorate in the Army. It was already too late to file a lawsuit. I went through basic training on this ankle, and was about to go to Iraq on it. I was pissed off, understandably. I'd make sure you didn't permanently jack something up hardcore, personally speaking. But that's just me.

It was that or not finish the trek. Considering how I was quite a few days into it I was kind of determined to finish it.

I don't think I permanently fucked anything up, it was just when I stepped on something wrong it would come back for a few minutes. Right now it doesn't even hurt that badly as long as I don't turn it side to side.
