yamaha rxs carb problem i think ?

i have a 1991 yamaha rxs 100 i have had it on the road around 2 months and been fine, BUT recently the bike keeps cutting out i.e going down the road and 2 miles it splutters and stops give it 2 mins then go again etc. i have checked the petrol air screw and reset and the petrol pipe going into carb but runs out fine.

does anyone know how to fix or tell me whats causing it

Has the bike been stored and not run for a while??take the carb apart and check the float is free and not sticking. Also clean carb out with carb cleaner...no wire brushes or such like in there, its delicate!!
