Yamaha R1 Neutral light and speedo don't work?

My neutral light and speedo will not work on my 2000 R1 there is power to the clock but it just read's zero, also my rev counter keeps flickering from zero to 3000 and it won't start with the side stand down. Any one got any ideas, thanks
 
Check the connection on the back of your tach, make sure none of the wires are pulled out of the connector also...that would be your best bet..usually when crazy things happen there is a bad connection somewhere.
 
First, it's not supposed to start with the side stand down unless it's in neutral. It you have it in neutral and it won't start then you have an issue somewhere in the circuit for the switch on the side stand. Without seeing a wiring diagram I don't know if that could be somehow related to the speedo not working, but if it all happened at the same time then I'd have to believe it's related. Either way, you will need the services of a mechanic that you trust. Good luck.
