yamaha r1 clutch question?

Get yourself a good manual perferably the yamaha factory manual. The job isn't hard at all. You probably only need the friction plates. Clutch kits mostly come with just the friction plates and the springs, but you can get kits with both the friction plates and the steel plates. If you do decide to do it yourself be sure to soak the friction plates overnight in engine oil or they will wear out super fast.

You need the factory manual for specifics on your machine, and a lot of it depends on how bad your clutch is. You might just need new friction discs, or you might need everything from the basket to the springs. The only way to know is to take it apart and check.

In a GSX-R1000 it is about an hour or two depending on how fast you work and how confident you are. The parts can be gotten really cheap from ebay. Central Florida Powersports has deep discounts on factory parts. I bought a used complete clutch pack from a very low mileage wreck for $85.00 and it was like new. It saved me a ton of money, but buying used is a risk.
