i have are 97 yamaha blaster with a newer wireing harness an newer carb off a 01 or 03 something in them years...i just put a new piston in it has not ran in about 5-6 months an still has the same gas from then. It did start an ran for a few then stoped but it will start everytime but only with me holding on the gas a little bit an with the choke half open but wont stay started with it closed. im thinking to check the air filter to see if its clean an check the carb clean it up...i also put a little extra 2 stroke oil in the premix gas since im still trying to get it to run for the break in.....any thoughts? it boggs out when i try to give it more gas an i also put a new sparkplug in should i put new gas an oil in too would that help?
the carb is stock ive clened it an the air filter I've had it for 2 years Now an rebuilt the motor myself took the whole quad apart a few times to mess with stuff paint frame etc... an how do you measure the gas oil mixture? I guess most of the time for the last two years an have never had problems...it ran great before my friend rode it an blow the piston since he had boots an wasnt really shifting it too much keeping the Rs high...it keeps fouling out an flooding really bad i checked the boot to see if theres an air leak anywhere the carb...ect but nothing i but i did notice that the head wasnt tighted enough an it had some gas leak from there but tighted it an still the same thing an also have the air/gas mixture screw 3 1/2 turns out....any answers anyone? i would love to get this going so i can get the piston broke in for this spring an summer which is right around the corner....
