yamaha 400 electrical problems?

i just got a yamaha 400 2 cylinder engine out of a sand rail that was not running. i don't no what it came out of or the year but i would guess around 1990. it has good compression and it sounds good when i crank it over. im thinkin its an electrical problem but i cant find a diagram for it. is their just a basic why of doing it? any help would be good
 
Heres what you can do, call your local dealer and give them the number off of the motor, they can tell you what year and what model it came from, then you can get the information you'll need. GOOD LUCK....GREASY.
