has anyone gotten yahoo messenger to work while tethering?

Ok I have my laptop tethered to my razr2 cricket branded phone. everything works on the web, however of course email doesn't work. However I tried putting the port 8080 settings in yahoo messenger and it still does not work has anyone been able to do this?

You have to be able to set the internet proxy in Yahoo Messenger, not just the port for the internet proxy. I don't know if it has settings for it. Look in Preferences and see if it has "internet proxy" and put the wap.mycricket.com and port 8080. If there is no internet proxy setting then you can't use it but you can use Yahoo's Web Messenger on your browser, it's flash based.
