Yahoo Mail Problems

Ok, so I originally set up my Yahoo mail account in the stock Email app that came with the G1. Normally you have to pay for the Yahoo Plus account to have it pushed but I know if you are on t-mobile's network (which I always am) they allow it. Everything worked fine until last week. I started noticing I hadn't received any new emails in the Yahoo account on my G1 for a couple days now. I had, on the other hand received plenty of new emails in my real Yahoo Mail account during the same period. So yesterday I got frustrated with not getting any new emails. I had been doing refreshes all of last week with no success. Sometimes the circle would spin and nothing would come in, or sometimes the circle would rotate, time out and say connection error. I did delete the account and re-enter it from scratch and that worked, I received all my new emails. But it only worked once. Now it is back to not receiving. Weird thing is it lets me pull up the iindividual emails it has loaded from weeks ago so it seems like it is connecting to the account in some way. Anyone else having this issue? I have been connected on EDGE this entire time.

Ah that's interesting I was having similar connection issues with yahoo email using the default email app. I did not know they allow T-Mobile backend to pull the email for free. That explains one of my biggest problems: Connection issues when it tries to read yahoo email via WIFI.

On 3G it's been loading fine but I use wifi mostly at home, so at home I don't get them. Thanks for indirectly solving that issue for me.

As far as your issue, I have been getting my yahoo email on 3G mostly, I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I can say my yahoo email has been coming in fine on 3G.

Hopefully others can chime in as well.

I have had the same issue. I have not noticed if I was on 3g or not when I receive my email so I am gonna have to keep an eye on that.

wow i just noticed this was happening to me... i have been getting new yahoo emails for a while and havent been getting notified of them... lame...

I deleted my account and setup it back up a good 2 or 3 times now, and the issue seems to have gone away. I am getting new emails again. I changed the account name it asks us to give and the frequency which it checks for new emails just as a precaution even though i doubt it made a difference. Hopefully it stays this way now.

Can you explain more please.

I am having the issue of not receiving Yahoo Mail over WIFI in the default email app as well and mnot sure what the problem is...

If you have a regular, free Yahoo Mail account, it will not download to your default email app over WIFI due to Yahoo's restricting their Push/Pull access to Yahoo Mail Plus accounts which you must pay for.

On the other hand , if you have a regular, free Yahoo Mail account, it will download to your default email app if you are connected to T-Mobile's EDGE or 3G network since T-Mobile and Yahoo seemed to have worked out some sort of agreement for accessing even free accounts

Ok I'm trying to setup Yahoo Mail on my friend's Sprint HTC Hero, I click on the icon that states MAIL, and the setup is using "Exchange Activesync" the fields follow as:

Email Address: [email protected]

Server Address: "not sure what to put here"

Domain: www.yahoo.com

Username: [email protected]

Password: password inputed

I thought I put in all the required info correct bu the error keeps coming back about server address needs to be correct and I'm not sure if I put the correct domain info down. Can someone please assist and inform me of the correct information? Also this account is just a regular Yahoo account, not a PLUS account.

ok, I'm a newbie at yahoo mail on htc android g1 with tmobile:

I have a [email protected] which is yahoo
I also have a [email protected] which is yahoo.

Are these yahoo accounts with non 'yahoo.com' able to be pushed to the g1 using the stock email with wifi turned off ?
if so , it is asking for the pop3 and ports,
what do I use for these?

This explains why I keep on having problems opening my yahoo mails whenever I go out and uses any WiFi in coffee shops or restaurants. At first I thought it was just a coincidence and I thought it was Yahoo who was having some technical problems.
