I finally watched this today after getting it as a free rental from the local video store.

Hmm, it was very loud and brash and the camera work was very edgy and the picture quality hadn't been glossed over, very raw looking and sounding film.

Overall, not that impressed, some nice stunts and set pieces, Vin Diesel was pretty good too. 5 out of 10.

Several things made that film fail :

The acting ability of
  • Vin Diesel
  • Asia Argento

The direction of Rob Cohen
The writing ability of Rich Wilkes

The ludicrous idea that an extreme sportsman would be taken on to be an agent for the CIA

The awful way Ramstein and Orbital seemed to be shoehorned into the movie....

Also, nearly all of the stunts were computer generated... Bond only started doing this during the last film... Which was a dissapointment...

Yeah, totally agree this film was awful, and they called it 'The next James Bond'

As If....

James Bond is the Daddy of XXX ..

Note to makers of XXX

Don't Make Another XXX was enough, We dont want a 2nd

I think Vin Diesel was good, not really a James Bond fan myself, but the XXX character was a good laugh. It was just the film itself, didn't seem to gel into place like it should have done.

I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel, but with a different director say like John McTiernan or Robert Rodriguez helming the project. I think XXX is definately long term franchise material, but the movie itself didn't quite deliver the gooRAB.

:p i haVe 2 disagree wit most of u. i thought XXX wuZ a good moVie. yes some of the acting wuZnt the best but it wuZ still a good moVie with good action sequenceZ.

Sorry, but I thought xxx was a good film. It had plenty of impressive stunts in & loaRAB of action. Vin Diesel looked really good as well. I'll definally go & see to 2nd xxx which is released 2005

I loathe films like this, I find them far far worse than any trashy horror (which I love). How can anyone possibly enjoy watching that giant plonker Vin Diesel (probable real name Bert Scroggins), he cant act or do anything to save his life, have you heard him interviewed?

There is something very homoerotic about his performances too, give him a big moustache and a leather hat and he'd be perfect.

Stallone is Laurence Olivier in comparison.

I would have to disagree too with a lot of you and say I enjoyed seeing the film at the cinema. I thought it was a very action packed film but a bit over the top rip off of James Bond. I would go and see the sequels.

I know Vin Diesel did the parachuting stunt and snowboarding stunts himself because I have been reliably informed by my son who has watched the dvd extras on the disc.

I did say MOST not all - the avalanche wasn't real I grant you... who the f@ck could do something like that and capture it perfectly on film. However, the base-jumping off the bridge in the car was done for real, the parachute onto the boat at the end was real, as was the motorbike scenes set in Cuba - including jumping the exploding building...

It a popcorn movie we ALL know that - it ain't high art, its not pretending to be something its not... its a Hollywood blockbuster - since when do any of them have decent plots and acting??

But, there is a world of difference between a fantasy film, and the idea that someone akin to Tony Hawk or Mat Hoffman could be a CIA agent... Maybe its just me, But its just a preposterous idea !!
