XP Media Center Edition freezes on logon when the ok button is pressed?

Windows runs well until now. I had some programs before run but not showing up on explorer. My laptop also has a general overheating problem amplified by the summer heat. Now this problem lies when I press ok and typed my password on Windows XP's logon, the system freezes. You can't press anything after clicking ok, as they are all frozen. Everything else ran normal before this process. I lost my installation disc.

Any help is appreciated.
