xBox360 crew v. Nearly pissed myself.

I was in the middle of Ultimate Alliance when my game froze so i restarted it. Wouldnt come back on. Turned it off for a bit and then restarted it. The ring of death came up. At this piont im seriously Have no idea where my reciept is but i know ive had for under year. Bought it with last years tax return. So basically im about at The xbox is on its side so the two bottom lights when on and the top right light went on. I called the 800 number and the automated thing had me unplug it, pull the hard drive off, turn it on, turn it off, unplug it, then put the hard drive back on. And now it works.

What the fuck happened? Anyone have any ideas as to why it would do that?

Hard drives sometimes hang up. Could have been a fluke, electronics aren't 100% efficient. That's why most parts have tolerences, but even with those tolerences sometimes a part can get damaged from heat and change a value and then really fuck up.

Shit happens, just be glad it works.

I've had to do that with PC HDs. It happened when Ubuntu froze up and I hit the reset button. When it booted back up ther disk drive wasn't recognised. Replugging the cables bought it back.

So, basically, your machine froze. You reset it. The disk drive was in the middle of a write operation. You blew the Master Boot Record. You reseated the cable, and when you powered it back on it caused the MBR backup to be copied to track 0. Now it works fine. It'll probably work fine for a long time to come.

You now have to figure out why it froze up, whether it is beacuse of over-heating or a defective DVD.

I dunno but same thing happened to me a couple months ago. Looked up the error code online and it was something about the HDD. I unplugged it and re-attached it and it works fine ever since.

same thing happened to me but a week l8r it died 4 good. I had no reciept since i bought it used off my friend. So went to costco bought a new 1 put old 1 in box. Problem solved.

Buddy of mine was talking about doing the same thing when the V2 comes out.. I have a feeling that his 360 won't make it that long though.

I know no one who has had to return their 360. How often and for how long do you guys play yours? Mine only gets about two hours of use a day at most.
