Xbox 360 wins holiday sales battle. v.us

That really is a moot point though....you're talking about different markets, especially with the DS.

The PS2 is only $130 now, has a big library of games (6 years worth), and had a couple huge titles this year. All of those things have an effect on why it's still doing so well. But you still can't compare it to the next-gen systems. The DS is also only $130, and is in an entirely different market (handhelds).

This is true, to a point....the real battle will be Holiday 2007. But, PS3's weren't THAT hard to find. Even before Christmas, I saw several stores that had units sitting on shelves for days. The Wii on the otherhand, was nearly impossible to get.

Why would MS need to go to a trade-in special? If you trade in your old XBox you can get $80 for it versus the $35 you could get before at Gamestop. Supposedly there is a trade-in special for the Wii and PS3, too, where they give you 50% more than you paid for it towards an XBox360. Supposedly the offer ends January 8.

I may end up waiting until the next chip downsize to 65nm. Unless, of course, Blue Dragon comes out first. If Blue Dragon were coming out on the PS3 chances are that I'd go with that system, if only because it tends to have more action rpgs. Actually Dragon Quest 9 may do the trick.

Gamestop offered an 80 dollar rebate for those who would trade in their Xboxes for a 360. But they gave the extra credit to all the systems, assuming you got store credit.

It is agreed upon that the real battle between consoles will be holiday 2007 and 2008. After those two years, a clear winner will be found.
