Xbox 360 Headset not working right?

i could be the microphone in the head set or the wires you should go to your nearest game store and buy a new one or ask if they can fix if.
 
its broken, these things go for about $20 at walmart and be very gentle with the next one you buy. there pieces of crap.
ive had oh about 7 break on me within 9 months its wonderful i tell you!

I am currently using the wired Xbox 360 headset, the one that came with the console. Last night, when I was playing on Xbox Live, I joined my friends party, but when I tried talking, it wasnt showing that I was saying anything. I could hear them, but I couldnt speak to them. Then it started working for like 20 seconds, and then stopped working again. So I tried switching controllers, and it started working again, and then about a minute later, it wasnt registering anything I was saying. I could still hear people, but they could not hear me. What is the problem and how so i fix it??
