Xbox 360 headset broken?

my xbox 360 headset stopped working. The head set sometimes works if plugged in and the cord pushed against the batter pack. if cuts in and out of the tv there is nothing wrong with controller or family settings. Please help with a way to fix it.
well thats not the problem because it just stopped working and the voice stopped working. it could be a loose wire but i dont wanna cut into it because i dont think thats the problem/ i dont have a sodder
 
Ok one is that if u to close to the tv ur mic wont work 2 is that u maybe had the mic on whene u was infront of the tv and now it wont work for a while
