xbox 360 elite vs arcade?

i have a xbox 360 elite that has the red ring of death but i have all the cords hardrive and everything i just need a new console would the arcade be a good replacement or should i just save up for another elite
 
Why don't you get it repaired by Microsoft...? If it's still warranty then it will be free for repair. I wouldn't buy a whole new console when I could just get the one I already have repaired. If it's an old console from like 2 years ago then get a new one. The newer xbox 360's have a better chip inside of them so they don't get RROD and overheat so much.

My xbox has had RROD twice and I got it repaired both times, 1st time it was free, 2nd time it cost me £60.

Also, dude below me speaks sense ;P
 
Go to support.xbox.com. You should be able to send that in and get a repair/replacement for a fraction of the price of a new one. I had mine die recently (not the ring, but the reader died), and the thing just went out of warrantee. $100 includes shipping and repairs and it should be fine. I'm not sure what they do exactly for the ring, but check their website; it'll probably be cheaper than buying new.
