mine is the "loud as fuck" model. I think it uses the same motor as my garbage disposal.

Just picked up a 360 today and I got a quiet one!

by the way if you have it standing upright then it gets loud as fuck and the tray jiggles.

i switched it to horizontal and its quiet now.


also, i was told it was designed to be sittign horiztonally... might wanna keep that in mind.

I have the hitachi. Loud as fuck. The thing I noticed is that it's only loud with 360 games. If you play any Xbox game it's perfectly quiet.

i have the samsung.

i don't think the type of drive has anything to do with the sound that it's putting out. i think it more has to do with the information the system is trying to process.

Odd, I have the Hitachi and I have no volume level problems...Maybe i'm deaf. I'll have to check later and pay more attention to it. But I know mine sounds nothing like the one on Inferno's vid.

I have the Samsung in mine now. The first 360 I had did have the other one and it was loud as hell.
